Hello everyone, how are you doing today?

Recognizing and managing a mental health crisis is absolutely critical to keeping the situation from escalating. Signs like extreme confusion, overwhelming fear, thoughts of self-harm, withdrawal from reality, or intense agitation can indicate the need for urgent support. Observing behaviours and using calm communication are key steps in assessing the situation and providing the right kind of help.

👉 Have you ever supported someone through a mental health crisis, or experienced one yourself?

👉 What signs do you think are the biggest red flags?

👉 What resources or professionals have helped you navigate these situations?

I have been through mental health crises. I have taken on board what friends have said, think what devastation would be caused by ones actions, by this I mean extremes as ending your own life. I have been there in thought but I brought myself back from the edge, so to speak. Family members who live quite a distance from me were concernened by my state of mind and got police involved. I won't go into detail but here I am. I'm spending a few days on holiday in Germany, rearanged from several months ago, while I was teetering on the brink of another crisis. Life is not exactly brilliant but I have supportive friends and I'm here if anyone I know is in a bad way.

I have suffered a few mental health crisis situations which brought suicidal thoughts.

I got through it with therapy help at the CBT centre in Coatbridge. It's not FREE but I couldn't find anyone through the NHS qualified to help via therapy, all I could find were organisations with people who would listen but were not qualified to dissect and put forward ways to deal with the suffering. My therapist at the CBT (Tracey) is fantastic and has the capabilities to analyse my mental health crisis and help me see things a different way therefor worth the fee.

@Somya.P I think meditation is a great way to deal with these things, especially concentrating on breathing, which is the basis for everything. It can be very calming
