Hello everyone,

How are you today? emoticon cute

I thought I would create this discussion so that we can get to know one another better and share about our experiences with bipolar disorder.

So, what has life been like with bipolar disorder? When were you diagnosed? Were you diagnosed as an adolescent or later as an adult? How are you doing now? Have you tried any medications or therapies?

learning how to except that i dont feel the same everyday learning how to adapt to life and work and excepting that not everyone will understand who you are and what you feel . I was diagnosed at a very young age i had a bad child hood and also suffer with ptsd but being manic depressive/bio polar is a huge part of how my life is written out for me but the challenge is to except we cant always be in control of how we feel and everyone can have bad days its learning the best way to manage through the different ups and downs the best way we can to be able to carry on with work and live our lives to the best possible and its ok to give up sometimes its ok to hate taking medication we are only human and life is one big learning curve and only you can live it ! sometimes the way we want and sometimes with no control over what happens next but getting back on track and doing what you can to be happy

I was diagnosed in my early 20's. I had a really bad what I now know was a manic episode and psychosis. It was really terrible but I did get my diagnosis out of it. It answered a lot of questions about my behaviour i guess. They gave me lithium at first and olanzapine I think. I did CBT for a while too. I think I'm doing better with it now but I lost many friends over the years because of it. Accepting my BPD and that it's always something I'm going to have to carry has been hard and I still struggle with it some days. Good to know I'm not alone on here.

I am bipolar I was diagnosed in July 2012,after many years of self harming and letting the monster inside me out,I became very argumentative with family and couldn't get away from my dark place, that black hole I was being swallowed up into,in 2012 I had a major breakdown for 3 weeks I stayed in my room, didn't bath or change my clothes and survived on water.i put my family through a nightmare.I have one son and 3 daughters all grown up, my son and grandaughters have just started talking to me after 4 years my 3 daughters 38,36 and 28 all have nothing to do with me because they can't cope with my bipolar, one even said I mentally abused her because of my bipolar.living with bipolar and chronic pain is not a life worth living I wouldn't want anyone to walk a day in my shoes.but because of bipolar I now live my life with hubby and have stopped hoping for other people's company.I haven't got anything interesting to say to anyone.Ive learnt one major fact and that is I've learnt to live with my demons and keeping my own company.
