Hi. I’ve had triple negative cancer too. Had 8 rounds of chemo. A lumpectomy and 20 sessions of radiotherapy. I’m doing great and did great through treatment. I just wanted to ask if anyone is suffering from sore ribs. Feels like I’m bruised. I finished my radiotherapy end of sept. Only feeling this lately.

Ah yes the ribs!  After my treatment I developed sore ribs and also in my upper back soreness in the muscles either side of the spine when I leant against things or bent over. They sent me for a chest x Ray and it came back ' wear and tare . These pains have been there ever since off and on. I have had another chest x Ray and once again just wear and tare. I think personally that radiotherapy can affect muscles and bones. It goes  in at an angle on the Breast to avoid major organs like the heart and just catches a tiny bit of the lungs. So it is bound to hit muscles, ribs in that region. But- I'm sure you do- when I get these pains I always worry  a bit. Obviously if you are worried tell your GP - it sometimes feels that you could be there- your GP s all the time- but if worried- go. Best of luck ! I'm a couple of years down the line and I still worry about pains!

I do wish that they would give lists of possible side effects - as people do worry. Especially for triple negative because most of the advice is for hormonal Breast cancer- rightly so as it is the most common. But - as I've said before with triple negative you do feel as though you are flying without wings- as you have no medication to rely on and every little thing you worry about. !

Thanks Margaret for the comment. That’s exactly what I feel. It’s not by any means painful just tender. I think we are always going to worry. I’m so glad you are doing well. I have a scan tomorrow so fingers crossed. Thanks again

It is just a time to get through. Yes it does seem tedious but they have to work through these procedures to make sure the treatment is right. You are tired with worry , appointments and taking drugs for it. Just get through- be kind to yourself, don't expect too much of yourself, get the treatments done and thenbit by bit start the rebuilding of your health.

I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer on 2/10/2015. I started chemo three weeks later. On 5th Jan 2016 I had a double mastectomy. Five weeks later diagnosed with residual cancer and went into have 6.5 months of more chemo and 25 sessions of radiotherapy. It has now been discovered that I have a damaged liver and have gone in to also develop diabetes. If fibroscan result has not lowered by May. I have to undergo a biopsy to find out if the liver has developed either medically induced sclerosis or cancer. Hopefully diet and exercise will help reverse any possible damage.

I am so sorry Lainey and hope your results do lower. As you say - watch your diet and tryto excercise and just keep a careful eye on things as I'm sure you are doing. It is a difficult time but you have come through so much you must have a great deal of inner strength. So remember that and hopefully you will get those levels lowered!

It really is such a tiresome time with worry and waiting. But we are strong and will get through one day at a time. I felt at times I was smothering with worry but somewhere we find the strength. I’m waiting on a scan result and have my first mammogram in January. I guess we have no choice but to try keep positive and strong every day and please god we get good results. So we can have our lives back. I’m back to work Tuesday with childcare so hopefully that will keep me going.
