Hello everyone,

I think we all know that when fighting against cancer we can stumble upon moments or problems in which we think we are not going to get through, when all we need is to push a bit more by having a goal in mind. Which are your motivations to keep fighting? What keeps you going?

Feel free to share.

All the best,

Gilda

What keeps me going are my kids. I don't want them to grow without a father as I did, so that is what keeps me going and doesn't let me loose faith.

I was diagnosed with carcinoid of the liver in 2004. I had biopsies which were inconclusive and regular scans. I had to get funding for injections which I had every month. Then they decided I didn't have cancer and they don't know who said I did!! I still have my tumours and symptoms!! years of depression and alienating my family, unnecessary. Then my mum had back pain last August she was diagnosed with Osteoporosis, she died three weeks later from Pancreatic Cancer!!!

Hello Angel55,

That is quite a story and I am so sorry about your mother.

Through all this trouble and challenges what has kept you going? I can imagine is hasn't been easy.

Looking forward to reading your answer.

All the Best,

Gilda

My girls kept me going all through this. Many times I felt alone, felt nobody understood. The pain was horrendous and last year I spent 8 weeks in hospital with pancreatitis worried!! thought this is it, but they never explained anything to me and after being told I could go home 3 times they changed their minds and decided to remove my gall bladder and said stones had travelled along towards my bowel and that I might wake up with a bag!! thankfully I didn't. I get terrible pain and often wonder in fact I worry it may be pancreatic again after what my mum went through it scares me. My mums sister, brother and nephew all had pancreatic cancer, our paul was only in his forties.

I too depended on my children to keep me fighting . Fortunately for me I had an active two year old . Who had no idea or did she care her mammy was undergoing treatment . She still wanted fed ? Needed her bum wiped and demanded cuddles. I looked forward to chemo weirdly , it was my only time to behave like a patient !

Love all your anwers... Me too, my kids are my fuel and in general my husband and family, they all have been really supportive and that makes me feel that I have to fight for them, I can't let them down and I don't want my girls to grow without a mum.
