Is it possible to get a stoma reversed if u have Crohn's my son is only 17 and was told yesterday he can't

Hello @David1976‍, thank you for opening this discussion. Let me tag some other members who can possibly share with you on this!

Hi everyone, how are you today? For those of you who have had an ostomy (ileostomy or colostomy) done for your Crohn's disease, can you share a bit about your experience? Is your stoma permanent or temporary? Has it helped your Crohn's in the long term? Have you had to adapt your life to it in any way?

Hi there,


I got my ileostomy in 2019. It has helped me immensely. I no longer have to run to the bathroom every two seconds or make sure I know where all the bathrooms are when I have to go out. I also dont have so much pain anymore.  8 have other health problems,  but my crohns is fine.  Haven't had a flare since.

Is anyone had a j pouch operation with Crohn's my son is only 17 and is always bleeding from his rectum he is steroid dependant which can't go on so if some new drug that he is due to go on doesn't help his flare up or bleeding they are talking about taking out his rectum and sewing up his anus can anyone help us with this
