Hi, I've just found this site and I'm excited to be a part of the group. I was wondering if anyone else struggles with muscle weakness, especially in the arms?

Some days I can barely find the strength to do basic daily tasks these days like washing my hear or doing the washing up. I often have to take breaks when I do things.

Is there anything we can do about it? Or do we just have to sort of carry on with it?

Thanks for any responses! xx

Hi @ fibroclaire that's one side of fibro I struggle with. I used to wash my hair and shower daily but that's a joke nowadays, I only do this when I'm able. Face cloths are brilliant to wash yourself down with and less washing than a towel and dry shampoo. I put the tea, coffee and sugar on the worktop, I was fed up brushing up the broken glass and sugar. When I feel I've no control over my muscles I sit down and relax trying to calm myself down as I get angry with myself. Luckily it's just my husband and I in the house. He was great, doing what I couldn't but he was diagnosed with cancer stage 4 advanced in 2012, yay he's still with us but the treatment has taken its toll and he has similar symptoms to me. I'm convinced he has fibro too due to the shock of being told he has cancer. I only make meals for myself as he's tube fed so I eat when I'm able to make it. Have a bath in Epsom salts,I used to do that most nights but have wet room now😒 if there's anyone else in the house able to give your arms and legs a gentle massage. You learn to adapt, eventually, it's not easy but if your body says 'no' then rest. Hope you're feeling bit better soon x

@popsicles Oh yes, I've definitely broken a cup or two over the years! I've also just set up a new "tea spot" that's lower down and easier for me to reach when my arms are acting up. I can definitely relate to the frustration and anger, I guess I need to try to be kinder and more patient with myself like you say. But it's hard some days. I may recruit the husband into arm massages, what an excellent idea!

Best wishes to you and your husband, I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year! xx
