Does anyone feel a pain in their chest that feels like heart attack even though it's at the opposite side of your heart??

No I have not had this, however after my last relapse which was Nov 2013 it feels like something is lightly pressing on the left hand side of my chest which is a bit odd but doesn't cause me any distress. During the relapse it was pins and needles there but that faded off and left this slight pressing feeling. Was it left over from a relapse? Have you told the MS nurses?

Hi Mssunny35 and Passfis,

Sounds like what you are experiencing Mssunny35 may be the MS "hug". Sometimes it can feel like there is a weight/pressure on any part of your chest, can be quite painful, may feel like you are having a heart attack or acute indigestion etc.

Hi again,

For some reason my iPad sometimes "freezes", hence couldn't finish my above comment! I've experienced this in various forms over the years and your first experience can be quite frightening (I guess like a lot of 1st time MS symptoms?) but this appears to be 1 of the many ways MS can "behave". Anytime you have any doubts or questions, hopefully you can contact your MS Nurse, who will be able to explain &/or advise you? Ann x

Hi all,

I don't specifically get the weight on the chest, although I do get a similar pain across my back. As has been said - the pain can appear in various forms and be quite excruciating.

Really - I am here with a request/warning. I have just attended a friend's funeral. She had MS and was having chest pains which she put down to an MS Hug. Unfortunately, it was an un-diagnosed heart condition.

My advice would be - go to the GP and ask for the assumption to be made that the symptoms are not connected with MS.

Oh, so, so, sorry to hear about your friend Ogma285 and couldn't agree with you more. MS symptoms can be so varied, changeable, unpredictable.......excellent advice re: seeking professional advice if/when anyone is unsure of what they are experiencing. Thanks so much for sharing with us all. Ann x

I had a heart attack two years ago symptoms were very much like indigestion but on taking gaviscon symptoms did not subside they say if you are experiencing indigestion and take an indigestion remedy symptoms shud subside after twenty minutes if they do not you can rule out indigestion, the pain I had was in the centre of my chest and in the middle of my back made worse wen I tried to lay down eventually the pain rose into my throat on phoning the dr an ambulance was called and I was admitted to hospital I had suffered a heart attack

Go see your doctor about it initially. Yes it may be an MS hug which is generally nerve pain however could be something more sinister.

I had severe pain in my upper back and round the front of my rib cage. Time and again I was back and forth to my GP Who came up with many possibilities. Turned out it is just nerve pain after taking amitriptyline it's all but disappeared.

hello, i have had tight hugging like a grip right round my chest,it is difficult to tell sometimes,but i know my angina is very different ,the hug is mainly in the side ribcage a tight hugging sensation,hope you soon have some releif it does ware off slowly,gabapentin has helped mine ,tremendously love boz x
