Sue had one fitted, it makes life very easy for you and carer if you have one. Just be aware that if it does come loose that you have a very short time before the hole heals up so you want a nurses help ASAP. She now has a urethral catheter which works well. We use a small jug and empty it regularly. It is so much better than using pads. Best wishes, and if you have any questions, please ask.

Hi yes I had one fitted just over a year ago and would definitely recommend it. Before mine I had one infection after another but since the supra absolutely none.

Hi Karen and Martin and anyone else who's got any advice
I had my SPC fitted on 19th June and it's been a steep learning curve since lol
I keep having issues with knowing which day bag to use; a short pipe leg bag just sits in completely the wrong place and because it is horizontal it really doesn't drain very well so I tried a leg bag with a long pipe but that only seemed to go to just below my knee and if I stand up as I need to do transfers and exercise in a standing frame I needed to hike the bag up to above my knee which is clearly not easy to do in trousers!
And where do I position it to stop having flow back leaks out of the regular natural orifice if you catch my drift.
I am a full-time wheelchair user and I have issues with my hips so regularly need to recline in my wheelchair or my recliner chair of an evening to relieve pressure but if I do this I sometimes get urinary leaks which is one of the reasons I got the spc in the first place... so can anybody give me any advice please.
TIA Jay

If I was you keep moaning to the district nurses to try all types of bags to get one which suits yourself. Personally I have a daybag with a short tube, but I keep a night bag attached to it cos I'm not able to empty the bag when required myself. The tube of the night bag gets wrapped right round my 2 legs then the bag gets covered in some form of scarf or shawl. It then sits on my two feet held by some velcro. It sounds crazy but it works for me! Good luck.
