My son is 12 years old and 6 months with Type 1 diabetes. He is quite a skinny build and is struggling with injections. His thighs and stomach are covered with tiny bruises from injecting. Is he doing anything wrong?

I'm diabetic 20+years when I was little I used to just use the same needle a couple of time for speed this never ends well if the same spot is used the insulin doesn't work well and can end up absorbing a lot later than intended end8ng in random hypos I was told to work in a clock work rotation starting at 12 moving a cm apart for each injection hope this helps

There can be lots of reasons for everything in life , but everyone is different what works for one might not do for the other, I have been Diabetic for 39 years proved doctors wrong and sometimes still have to tell Doctors and nurses a certain procedure. When you reed books and listen to advice this this might work for some individuals but not your son , but you shouldn't use the needle twice and you should try to inject in the fatty areas which does not hurt as much and less likely to bruise his buttocks would be ideal but that is down to him you have to keep trying till your son his happy with the results.

Thanks. Hopefully he will be on the pump soon enough. This injecting is tough on him.
