I have been told by my work to stay home as people I support do not socially keep safe and put me at risk. Have requested to be a letter to say I am unable to work in a safe place. Occupation health have agreed if not safe to work should not be allowed. My doctor said I could don't know what to do feeling confused and anxious as recently news reports 33% of underlying deaths from virus are type 2 diabetes

@Ned777 Hi I'm 62, type 2 BMI 30, hypertensive. I have good control generally however the BP has gone up slightly which I am assuming is due to stress!! I'm a nurse in an NHS care home and I had to beg and plead to be removed from resident facing, personal care roles. There are other staff members who have been told tough and to carry on unless they have had a letter from their GP. I now am at work 3 days a week and am doing clerical stuff (care planning, PDRs, supervision) from an office totally separate from everybody else and have been told cannot return to normal duties until there is a directive from the Trust. I have another colleague who has severe asthma and has been told to return to work. There does not seem to be any clear policy in our cases.

I have just spoken to the practice nurse at my GP surgery who stated that the risks have been over inflated by the media and whilst at higher risk, the stats do not take in to account the age etc of those who have become fatalities i.e how many were over say 75?

It's confusing - there are no clear cut rules from anywhere but I would say yes we need to socially distance and if it can't be avoided employers should put steps in place. If they don't and insist you go to work, are they not liable??

By the way we have only had 1 positive case (which was a member of care staff) 4 weeks ago, no symptomatic cases since.

I was due to go back to work where social distancing was impossible to follow. I rang nhs and they gave me the number for Public Health England who issued me an isolation note.

When i was given an isolation note from Public Health England there was only 2 options to tick

1- I have coronavirus

2- I am living with someone with the coronavirus.

The lady on the phone told me she would put number 2 as they dont do a note for the clinically vunerable group.

My employer accepted my first note but when i put mt second note in they said they wouldnt accepted it as it didnt refer to my diabetes. They said i needed a shielding letter or a fit for work letter off my doctor.

They said if i couldnt get any of these i would be expected back at work on monday which is at a school with special needs children where social distancing is impossible.

I have rang my doctors and are waiting for a call back. I have sent my work an email saying im not prepared to come back to work until ive heard from my doctor as nhs told me i shouldnt be working. Ive yet to hear back from them.
