COVID-19 & Type 2 Diabetes: Returning to work after the coronavirus?

Hi 

We would all like that answer  ! I work in  a retail store not looking forward going back on 1st june

 I'm type 2 diabetic  like also haven't had letter off Dr to sayou stay off work like work with vulnerable adults in a large care home  full time  

I sat on a conference call yesterday day with my daughter as she's a TA at the same school I work at so I thought id be nosey .out of site to see what was happening ...  They are having no dinner staff in at all .they are putting it all on the what little staff they are having in ... How ever it's still alarming  I do think all staff are doing a fantastic job to make school safe but they should not be going back as the children will still be able to mix in their "bubbles "

I’ve just been diagnosed type 2

4 Metformin a day 

Asthma

I return to work June 1st

other than the prescription I have no other info other than I need a quite few tests .

have had second blood test 10 days ago 

no results fed back so I take that’s good

no 2nd water test as treating water infection 

so no idea what else I’m meant to be doing if anything 🙈

I am new to this as only been diagnosed in March for diabetes type 2.  I am on metformin one a day and for some reasons it has reduced my appetite slightly.  I am not on specific diet and I am trying to eat balanced diet and reducing the portion.  

I used to go to the gym at least twice a week but since the gym is closed due to COVID-19 I don’t have the motivation to do exercise apart from walking 7 kilometres at least once a week.

i am still on furlough until the end of June, cannot wait to go back to work.

I was diagnosed type 2 about 6 years ago and take two metformin a day. I have a number of medical issues, including high blood pressure. However, I had managed to keep everything well controlled until about 6 months ago when my levels have started to increase. Next diabetic check isn’t until September.

I'm signed off sick at the moment so not considering returning to work until I’ve received treatment for a spinal issue. My GP has been very good, keeping in frequent contact. I’ve not been asked to shield, but advised that I need to be very careful in terms of contact with other people.

The guidance is that if you are not in the high risk group and haven't had a letter to shield then there has been no advice to stay of for 12 weeks.

The advice for the vulnerable group (because of diabetes or other noted conditions) was to follow enhanced social distancing measures. If you are in this group I would speak to your employer about what measures will be in place so that you can do this when you return to work. It's also worthwhile speaking to your union rep if you are in a union. 

Ify youbelieve you should have received a letter due to having other conditions then you should speak to your GP about getting a shielding letter. 

hi, I am new to this group, I am type 2 diabetic on metformin and insulin, although I am not due back yet as I work in a leisure centre but I am longing to get on the golf course, where do I stand, obviously sticking to social distance etc, I have had no letter or guidance from my G,P or health care professional.

Well I return to work next week abit worrying working in a shop only doing 3 days but its something I need to do beenat home for to long fingers crossed
