hi tatty teddy, don't be scared it is not as bad as you first fear.I to found it very scary but i sat down and did a lot of research as my doctor gave me no advise whatsoever,i soon found a low carb diet and as much exercise as you are able to do helps a great deal, has your doctor referred you to the diabetic nurse they will help.also ask questions on forums like this there is always some advise that you will find helpful.

I'd just like to share that my husband was diagnosed as type 2 about 6 years ago.  The GP, who happens to be my boss wanted him to take metformin, but I wanted to source something natural online.  I came across a herb called Gymnema Sylvester in tab form, 300mg, and started him on them one a day, and made sure he ate healthily.  The GP couldn't get over the results in a couple of months and told him 'whatever you're doing, carry on doing it'.  His HbA1c is normal, and he still watches what he eats, but doesn't think twice about having a treat every weekend.
