@LizziB About 30 years ago, I started having to take a deep breath every now and again and felt like I just couldn't get enough breath into my lungs. My then GP did round upon round of tests, ultimately ending with an ECG, which showed that I had the potential for left ventricular hypertrophy, but nothing else done about it so I assumed all was well. (I didn't discover this until I requested my notes 9 years ago!)
Fast forward to moving house and changing GP surgery. I had a full health check and my BP was high; another ECG and boots done and a week later I was on meds for hypertension, I had developed LVH! It is under control and I no longer feel like I have to take a deep breath, only to be unable to, it only happens occasionally and I put that down to my lymphoma.

Yes, I was diagnosed with RA over 50 years ago and in 2010 started getting symptoms like you describe and was diagnosed with COPD.
Because I smoked when I was younger, I was told that was the problem.

Hi Carenity,
I have had RA for several years now, I and recently I have been having trouble breathing. I mainly have shortness of breath and an off-and-on dry cough. When I was first diagnosed I remember reading RA could lead to lung diseases. I might be developing them now. Has anyone else developed lung problems over time?
