I had diabetes complications and stayed in hospital since last december till 1st week of feb 2020
Prior to that i had fibriods embolisation that has caused me to flow for over 2 yrs and on a&e before i had my surgery in december.
I was on constant pain and migraines.
I now have blood pressure and on insulin.
I was told by a nurse in a care home as i am a carer that diabetes is also a risk as its chronic
People with ashtma as well and any chronic illness.
The prime minister and health seceretary classed this as underlying health condition.
Therefore they ll be unable to fight this pendamic if infected with their antibodies.
Your GP should not hesitate given you sicknote.
We do not know who has this covid-19
I am now fully self isolated since thursday till this pendamic is cleared.
I can not take the risk sorry.
Blood sugar or blood pressure goes up and down regardless.

@Branoc I am an Occupational Health Advisor and if I was employed by your company I would be declaring you unfit for work at present moreso due to your cardiac issues because they fall under the government guidance. Ask your line manager to refer you to their Occupational Health Provider for assessment. Good luck & stay well ☺️

'You have unstable insulin-dependent diabetes or complications of diabetes. The uncontrolled increase in blood glucose levels due to diabetes can damage the immune system, which will have a harder time defending your body against infectious diseases and their complications. Infections can also cause your blood glucose levels to become unbalanced and/or worsen some of the complications of diabetes you already have'.
An extract from the 'Which chronic diseases are most at risk?' article on the 'CORONAVIRUS AND CHRONIC ILLNESS' written by Camille Dauvergne, Carenity Junior Community Manager France.
I think common sense must prevail? If you feel any symptoms of the 'covid-19' virus self isolate and seek medical advice.
STAY SAFE

I have a telephone consultation booked with my own GP tomorrow to ask for her advice. I would have to go into work to be able to speak to the GPs there and this is what I'm trying to avoid. Thanks for your reply.

@Branoc My dillema is very similar, I've spoken to my Dr who says my risk is quite high due to all my underlying conditions, I'm support staff in a hospital.
I have type 2 diabetes (medication, diet) , Asthma, SVT and I take a cancer medication which is an inhibitor. Amongst a few other issues.
You would think that the combination makes you vulnerable but employer doesn't seem to think so. Do I self isolate??

Hello everyone,
Since the Coronavirus pandemic concerns many across the UK (and Carenity members too), I've created this discussion to allow you to talk specifically about the virus in the context of Type 2 diabetes, as we all know that people with underlying health conditions can be more affected.
If you haven't yet seen, we've published a few articles outlining the general information and guidelines for both the general population and for those with chronic illnesses:
Coronavirus: What do you need to know?
Coronavirus and chronic illness
Are you worried about the coronavirus? Have you received any special instructions from your doctor regarding your care? Are you going to limit your travel? Do you feel that you are sufficiently informed about the general and specific recommendations? Have you taken any specific precautions?
Feel free to share your comments or questions below!
Take care,
Courtney
