Hi Bridge67
Not all diabetics are considered vulnerable by the government and those diabetics that are may have additional issues that put them on the list. Contact your GP as they are making the decision on whether an individual is on the list or not. I am a diabetic with other additional issues but did not make the list but my wife did and gets the extra support. It is your GP who decides on the governments behalf but no doubt they don't like turning sick people away from the support, so say they are not the decision maker. Good Luck!

Hi
I'm a carer with diabetes and arthritis the government sent me a letter to say I have to stay in for 12 weeks due to diabetes and if I contract covid I'm more at risk. But I'm dying to get back to work there is only so many times you can clean your house. And also I'm gonna need a wage soon. I'm finding it harder to go shopping as the question are so long. I'm going stir crazy for sure

I’m the same and haven’t received a letter, but my boss has put me as shielding as being on the vulnerable list. It’s all very confusing!

My wife had a follow up phone call from the GP checking to see if she had any issues as a vulnerable person, she had none so we were ok. The GP gave my wife strict orders that she was not to leave the house, not even the garden. Seemed a little OTT as we are just starting to take the dog out in the evening for a short walk when nobody is about. We don't want to go stir crazy but if the government does relax the rules there may be to many people about for us to continue. Nice if we could get to our caravan in Norfolk, we could isolate just as much there as in our home!
Stay safe!

Hi, I have T2 Diabetes , and an Under Active Thyroid, so for some reason, my Blood Glucose are all over the place since this lockdown. Now my Thyroid is acting up. I have no energy and tend to sleep a lot even during the day. I can only put it down to stress and anxiety, because I had my BG down to the best level of 10.

I have lost a close family member to this horrible virus. She only 50, too young. I am so scared at moment. Staying in lockdown till safe in my eyes & head. Take care everyone.

I have the same conditions and have found my energy levels really low. Put it down to cabin fever.......May be the least of my problems soon though as returning to work 😔

Hi
im type 2 diabetic, my blood sugars have been around 7.9 morning 6.5 lunchtime and 5.3 tea times . I’m feeling really tired a lot and not a lot of energy or incentive to go out. My brother had a major stroke at the weekend finding it hard not being able to visit him .

Hello everyone,
Since the Coronavirus pandemic concerns many across the UK (and Carenity members too), I've created this discussion to allow you to talk specifically about the virus in the context of Type 2 diabetes, as we all know that people with underlying health conditions can be more affected.
If you haven't yet seen, we've published a few articles outlining the general information and guidelines for both the general population and for those with chronic illnesses:
Coronavirus: What do you need to know?
Coronavirus and chronic illness
Are you worried about the coronavirus? Have you received any special instructions from your doctor regarding your care? Are you going to limit your travel? Do you feel that you are sufficiently informed about the general and specific recommendations? Have you taken any specific precautions?
Feel free to share your comments or questions below!
Take care,
Courtney
