I'm up every 2/3 hours at night visiting the toilet. A lot of medication for health issues all reacts against another and obviously has an affect on the bladder If a diuretic is in a blood pressure medication, it doesn't help!

I take a real cocktail of medication every day, 43 tabs and 6 injections, minimum). My meds act against each other and cause me no end of problems with sleep, or usually the lack of it. Many drugs are for my pain management, just about got it sorted after nearly 20 years. Some of them make me drowsy so I tend to take them at night. Some make me feel light headed and dizzy, at weekends when I take a certain medication, I am just knocked for ‘six’. My get up and go has got up and gone. Unfortunately I am ‘stuck’ on them for life. I asked the GP if I could stop taking some of them and he said, ’If you leave that one off. You’ll probably die, If you leave that on off you may die a slow death, but if you leave that one off you WILL die’. So yeah, the rest of my natural. So many drugs to day have un-wanted ‘side effects’ they come in all guises?
Sleep deprivation is one of the most common reasons for lost productivity, very often passed off as some other reason so as not to admit that they may have a potentially serious problem. Fatigue is only really relieved by having sufficient sleep. We all get tired but very often continue to ‘burn the candle at both ends’ hoping no one will notice? Then all of a sudden it catches up with us and you sleep for many hours more than usual.

@richard0804 I thought my concoction of medications was bad enough! Yours sounds like a proper dose! #
I agree with your comments; no use discussing it with the Doctor. I'm under review for my epilepsy at current and hate to think of even more medications coming!
Sleep well!

I have a few conditions, I have suffered from insomnia for a long time. The Osteoarthritis affects my sleep even more. I’ve suffered from insomnia for over twenty years. Each ache or pain seems to affect the very little sleep I do get.

What do you do to fall asleep faster? Do you take any medications or natural supplements?

@Courtney_J Sleep is essential to me, but i'm not sure it plays a role in my diabetes. I just know that if I don't get my 8 hours I'm a bit of a beast! I wonder if sleep affects blood sugar, I know lack of it can affect blood pressure but I don't know about sugar.
