Hello everyone,

How are you today? emoticon cute

Having a chronic illness can often be an isolating experience - you may not have the energy to socialise, others may not understand what you are going through and you may feel alienated and alone.

I thought I would open this discussion as a place for us all to come together, regardless of our condition(s), to support one another and chat! Let's use this space to talk about anything and everything - share your mood, your story, your ups and downs and your support!

So, how are you doing today? Do you ever feel lonely in your illness? How do you cope? What has made you smile today? Do you have any hobbies or activities that bring you joy? Do you have anything you want to share with the community? emoticon wink

Feel free to share with us here!

Take care,
Courtney

Try and take one day at a time. Try some relaxation techniques like Yoga and meditation. Exercise if you can. keep mentally and physically active. Only you can help your self best. People can advise, but only you know what is best for you. If you believe in God, Trust in Him. Hand it all over in to His hands and let Him unfold His plan in His own good time.

Good luck

Try and go out, especially in the sun and walk.  Wear a mask in shops etc. Fresh air and sun build up the immune system to help us fight this Covid 19, which may be around for some time yet. I am trying breathing exercises and it helps to relax and sleep. The internet is full of scams and they are very cleverly done; best to ignore them all.

@johno104‍ Sorry to hear that you are having problems coping. You are not alone. I know that doesn't make you feel any better but as Nineteen_gale said, 'take one day at a time'.

I suffer from MS, chronic asthma, PTSD & depression. I too was caught out by an online scammer this year so I can relate.

I find it easier to cope, by keeping myself as busy as possible, including - meditation, doing my adult colouring in book, binge watching various series on Netflix, and doing video calls with a small group of friends & family. Although I am shielding I am lucky to have a garden to go out in either to spend time with my rabbit & get some fresh air.

I know everything is taking alot slower making us have to wait for help. Be kind to yourself. Do things you enjoy, take up something creative (perhaps creative writing), do short exercises like some pilates/yoga. Hope this helps you.

Well hi all and I’m far away from you and your problems, I have been reading and I wonder if I find that hope that some of you talk about . There’s one thing seems we share is a deep down feeling of despair, , I understand is what I can say but my trails have uniquely there own value , and when I talk of $ I’m am due for a pay out and my so partner I feel is holding on to that day then the fact that I’m from head too toe covered in lesions spread everywhere, I hold on too my 6yr old daughter who is a menny version of me and the inspiration I really need now , really rocked my whole life this has this NETS., as for the people involved in the cancer game .I mean that by saying (some get it and honestly some don’t) I learnt about that in Australia . (dont) I care about them we’ll probably not , I just at the end of the day survive for me ,!!! Because people go home and they survive in there own way too . That saying is so true , Every man will run his own race by the time he is done thru . I don’t sleep well and I’m up most of the time eating yogurt ,cause my dame stomach won’t shut up from complaining, , it’s been the journey now of day 6 -7 mths, and I think it’s getting worse, I haven’t started training and that hurts believe me ,. I’m a boxing coach and have done this sport since I was a junior, finding out really crushed me and still I haven’t found my way , having another child sounds silly and for the the ones who comment in agreement of this , I think there silly , cause honestly my daughter gets to spend her life with a brother or sister. And we just got in by one injection before she feel pregnant .makes me wonder if my child will get cancer when he grows up ,. COVID hasn’t affected Australia at all , sorry guys . We go about the days means no different to us , we and my family feel for all u guys overseas we really do , my grandfather is born and raised in England he is a fighter like me but for a different course, I fought for fun and he fought with a gun, Bless him I say for I grew up to some of my teenage life in Zimbabwe with him by my side , now I’m stuck across the sea living down under with a woman and 2 children of Papuan New Guinea. Different cultures different people , different life different situations. Everyone has there own , I have mine and they make me feel sick been everyday lately, I just don’t feel the same anymore , I wonder if this will ever go back to normality, mmmm!! They call this counciling/psvhotherapy.place THE HOUSE OF HOPE , I have come to understand that the hope they as people offer can’t not really come from them but God alone can offer that . I watched everyone I know involved fall bye the way side and only I will run this race at the end of the day I’m tyied I’ve been trying to catch up on NRG for so long now it’s starting to become the norm for me, I miss getting loose every now and again , been 45 I don’t behave the way I once did , but I still burn hot sometimes, it’s 2021 and the world is killing its self cause people won’t stay home , wow how this world seems trapped by there very own things they designed. Me I’m not happy nor am I sad , I’m just pissed off this happened to me , cause it is about me right , I know one thing this cancer brought my mum and family closer and closer and I love them for there surport love preyers and care they show for me and my daughter. As for the other side of the family has drifted in the opposite direction , kinda like I’m weak for a man cause I’m sick and I might not be able to look after  my little family , like I’m a burden ahead of the future , the love I once seen in this family lies on deaf ears ,dies when some thing goes wrong ,I was questioned when announcement of baby not congratulated that’s how I felt anyway,, I do like the story’s shared they all seem to be sad though like mine I try jumble life in sequences and routines , doesn’t allways work but I’ve certainly had loads of fun , wasted a big portion of my life and that’ll allways be a regret . Got 25 & 23 yr old daughters who are of Afrikan and aboriginal descent, beautiful chicks , really devestated them and trying to get that relationship healed , wow , didn’t see that life could be this hard , and what about the survivors out there battling a worse situation then my little stomach pains , haha, eat some concrete And harden up boy , ur losing the fight, pick up ur training and focus on ur future it’s ur race now Run boy run .And the sun comes up and the sun my friend allways rises in Australia. . Every single day of the week, in south Australia the sun don’t go to bed till nearly CD 9pm at night, WTH, went to Adelaide for 9 Mrhs of  Boxing, kool. It’s crazy times people I believe there’s crazy people everywhere , doing crazy shit just to get bye ,I do the surviving thing these days and thats worse than crazy ,I’m just a survivor man ,so guys take care keep the fight on the inside, and survivor on the outside. I have enjoyed reading other people's posts and there experiences. First lock was hard as I was on my own and lost my dog. My main problem was getting the right food as I am on a strict diet for health reasons and picking up medicines. My daughter rang me every day but she had a new born baby so it was difficult for her to do much but she did her best. My son would bring food over and would stand in the garden to talk.

When the second lock down looked as if it was on the cards he moved back here so he arranged that he would work from here. The 2 of them bought me a rescue dog called Honey who I got at the end of October. So even though I am shielding and can only go out basically to walk Honey it has been a lot better this time round.

I do find that people don't understand what is really wrong and either fuss and think I can't do anything or accuse me of faking my illnesses (I was in HDU when someone said this to my son once, by the time he had finished they were in tears).

I talk to a lot of different people from all walks of life on social media and if any of them are worried, lonely, depressed etc try to offer my moral support.

I have been told that I should take it easy and stay at home but I refuse to just sit at home feeling sorry for myself. My friends know my limits ,I belong to a chronic pain support group which I try to get to as often as possible. My local hospice who have been brilliant run Well being sessions which I go along to if I can. My lifeline though is my beautiful gentle rescue dog. She gives me a reason to get up in the morning, ,we potter down the road and everyone knows us, it's very rare I don't see somebody to say hi to. Chronic illnesses can define us control our lives and we can give up. Or we can address it, learn to pace ourselves and get on with our lives as much as we can.
