@KPangela I'm right there with you, I've stopped watching the news too, I can't take it. It's too stressful and I can't dwell in it.
I wonder if the government would consider doing a curfew like they're doing in France. A good way to put a stop to the irresponsible parties without doing a full lockdown. I think we'll all be watching to see if that helps the numbers in France and then follow suit if so.

Hello everyone,
Yesterday First Minister Drakeford announced a strict two-week national "fire-break" lockdown in Wales starting Friday at 6 PM to slow the second wave of COVID before the winter season.
From Friday 23 October to Monday 9 November:
- People must stay at home, except for few isolated purposes
- People must not visit other households or meet with people who are not members of their own households
- Certain businesses must close, including bars, restaurants and most shops
- Secondary schools will hold courses online only for the week after half-term, except for years 7 and 8 and primary schools, universities, and childcare settings will remain open
- Masks will continue to be mandatory in indoor public spaces that remain open, including on public transport
For our members living in Wales, what do you think of these measures? Are you prepared for a new lockdown? Do you think this will help to slow the spread of COVID?
Feel free to share your thoughts here!
Take care,
Courtney

@popsicles ... I am one of the kindest people out and will do my utmost to help others. I often go to M & S coffee shops and sit alone just to get away from looking at four white walls at home. My Mum is in Scotland and at 90 years of age, is alone all day and all night, totally isolated in a fold with no one to talk to whatsoever.
No one seems to care but I make sure I phone her daily just to keep an eye on her, and make conversation, make sure she is eating, and still alive! She tells me during this time 'she wants to die' and is so depressed, like so many others, but I am still her pillar of strength, just like she was mine when I was first diagnosed with epilepsy 47 years ago at the age of 16.
I will not give up on older people; they need our help and are precious to all. I just wish the younger generation would respect them too. I was brought up in Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) and we were always taught to respect the elders, always say 'please and thank you', and show kindness to others.
I do my best to befriend the older people, give them a smile as I pass by, and will always talk to them when they are alone at a bus station, sitting on a bench, waiting for a train, in a coffee shop, or elsewhere. I will always ask them if they are 'okay' and if there's anything I can do for them in the meantime. If a person is disabled or blind and is struggling to find their way around, I will help them walk further, take their arm, and show some respect and compassion.
I am so grateful to my parents for my upbringing, and will never let the older people down.

I am just totally fed up with the chopping and changing of this government. We get bombarded with statistics which are totally meaningless as they don’t compare like with like. I don’t believe the death rates which are trotted out day after because these are unclear. My mental health has suffered because of little face to face contact with most of our family. The only saving grace is that we have formed a support bubble with our youngest daughter and her two small children so see them regularly. The sad part of this is that this dreadful virus is totally responsible for her being a single parent as it has been the catalyst for the breakdown of her marriage.
I think the time has come to stop any lockdown. Let everyone get back to living a normal life, reopen businesses, pubs and clubs; sports grounds and theatres, get the NHS operating properly so that people with cancer can get their proper treatment, those awaiting surgery can have their operations . Yes, the death toll may rise but we have all these mothballed Nightingale hospitals which could be reopened to take infected patients. Then we can start to develop herd immunity which is the only way to combat this virus and get back to living!!

Seems to be a very haphazard method of dealing with a life threatening infection government seems to be leaning more to safeguarding buisiness over the lives of people. Mind in the same vein a lotof people are putting themselves at risk volunterily. As a post cancer survivor I am having to put myself at risk inorder to do the shopping for my 87 year old Mother in Law, my 38 year old daughter who has Borderline Personality Dissorder, my son 34 who has severe asthma and my wife who is type 2 diabetic, just a typical father trying to do the best for his family despite risks to himself. No doubt there are a great many of you who find yourselves in the same position. So I say this to you all take time to acknowledge the risk you are taking and give yourself some kudos for what you are doing.

, I'm certainly not amused with this latest lockdown news we've been getting away for 3 nights once a month in our touring caravan the next one is definitely going to be cancelled and I think the latter one as well.
I can definitely see this lockdown going on for more than the 4 weeks predicted more like 6!
My teenage son is very upset as well he will enjoy going to college only twice a week but is unable to see his mates as they all live in the town nearby
This supposed 4-week lockdown is going to be more difficult for absolutely everybody no matter what circumstances you may be in we are not going to be able to get outside as much as we were ~ due to inclement weather wet windy cold.
I'd personally just like to say thank you to all the people that have not been following the covid Rules hands on face space and the rule of 6 not forgetting isolation after having a positive covid test. The
Common sense has definitely left the country!

I've come to the conclusion you can only do what you feel is right for you. I now have 2 covid tests a week + have to wear facemasks at work but you still won't get me in a supermarket. Large groups of people are meeting up for walks already. Wait for the crowds on beaches, and in pub gardens. It will be mayhem!

I am beyond words when you watch the news and see the amount of people not following guidelines and are not taking this seriously how do others feel? ☹️
