@heeler Hi ... I am currently taking 4 psychiatric medications but some only in small amounts . I take 15mg of Mirtazapine , 20mg of fluoxetine , ( both antidepressants ) , 10mg of promethazine  (for anxiety and sedation ) and 300mg of pregabalin twice a day ( for anxiety )  , once in the morning and once in the evening . I am very happy , strong and stable , this combination is really helping me a lot .

I have suffered for many years not knowing, traumatic life matters brought it to a head and after evaluation and lots of treatment I take one day at a time.

I find it being honest and open and talking helps, medication does help I take alot but sometimes doesn't always work and I end up changing, still have not got the right combo.

Trail and error at the moment but I am sure help will get it correct in the long run

Hi @stringer , I have taken all of those apart from Thyroxine . Propranolol I guess is for the anxiety , I have had Inderal LA capsules and the 40mg tablets ... I had to stop taking them because with my exercise routine I was getting breathless because my heart wasn't beating fast enough . I now take Pregabalin for anxiety , I really think they are great as I get no side effects at all , just no anxiety . If you don't get on with Dapakote there are many other mood stabilisers like Lamotrigine or Tegratol ( carbamazapine ) or Olanzapine . I never got on with Escitalapram , it made me sweat and feel unwell , I get on better with things like Mirtazapine , Amitriptylene , Reboxetine ,Dosulepin , Fluoxetine or Moclobemide ... It is very awkward for your Psychiatrist or GP because of the Thyroxine that you are taking , many things interact with this and I am sure he must have taken that into consideration . If you have been taking your medication for a number of months and you do not feel it is benefiting you , then you must ask for an alternative . The best way to remember to take medication is by putting it into a tupperware box with compartments for each day . Best wishes to you , you are welcome if I can help in any way .

Daren :)

Hi @Jodzkhr , Welcome to the site .... I had a bad reaction to Sertraline when I tried that ... do you mean Sertraline ? . A pal of mine was taking Seroquil (Quitiapine) and he changed from that to Abilify (Aripiprazole) and he says he is a lot less lethargic , maybe ask about this when you see your psychiatrist , it may help you . Have you tried things like Mirtazapine , Fluoxetine , Reboxetine , Nortriptylene , Lofepramine , Venlafaxine , Citalipram , Amitriptylene , Imipramine or Trazadone ? ... Always worth trying something different if you don't feel they are helping you to think positively . Are you undergoing any therapy ? .. It's always good to do something useful even if you have had counselling before , doing it again can only help

Daren :-)
