GAD (Generalised anxiety disorder) is quite a common condition that is characterised by constant uncontrollable worrying, fears, nervousness, etc.

Emotional symptoms that are caused by GAD can also provoke physical symptoms like fatigue, muscle tightness, insomnia, and even stomach problems, diarrhea, etc.

This discussion is dedicated to people suffering with general anxiety disorder, so that they could exchange their experiences and help each other learn to manage the disease better.

To get you started, tell us at what age you were diagnosed? What were the signs? What were the solutions offered by your medical team? Were they of help?

Thank you all in advance for sharing and hope you will find it useful!

Hello everyone,

How are you today? Have you seen this older discussion?

How do you manage your anxiety? Have you tried any medications - antidepressants (Cymbalta, Paxil, Zoloft...), anxiolytics (Xanax, Klonopin...) or antiepileptics (Lyrica)? What about therapy or alternative treatments? How have they worked for you?

I take medication and appreciate its positive effects. Trying to have a calm and stress free life is a good way to cope.

This is not always possible. A good night's sleep is important and when anxiety is preventing a decent sleep. I took sleeping tablets to help with this issue
