I can't leave the house. I can't go out. I have managed work but not been to college all week. I feel hopeless and started to drink again. I want to finish this course so bad, I know I can do it but if this is how I have handled one year at college how am I supposed to do UNI!?  I am 25 and these "phases" of hopelessness and misery just never seem to stop...

Thing to remember fire is your not alone, so calm down and slow down with competing with everyone else. Make them deal with your issues. Not pass them on to our kids...Be strong Sis also when I felt like that and now 46/7 I changed the people around me and my aims hope it helps.

Good morning Ladyfire. I hope that today is going well for you?

You need to cope with the" here and now" at the moment as you are swamping yourself with the future. We all like to have something to aim for but in your present state concentrate on today.

You haven't said what is preventing you from leaving the house?

What is it that you are trying to block out through alcohol?

You are an intelligent individual and you know yourself that you can do it, so what is blocking that goal today?

There are open university courses that could be done from home; so don't think that you can't achieve a particular qualification in the future.

Have you been in touch with the college; student support?

They would be more understanding if they are aware of your struggle. Communication is so important; in life in general.

Don't give up on your dreams, you yourself have stated that you wish to complete this course. Dig deep and keep that thought in the fore front. Believe in yourself and your capabilities to make those dreams/yearnings become reality.

Take care .

UPDATE

Went back to college today, managed to get assignment in on time. Was feeling very anxious and low yesterday but coped by writing and drawing on my arms instead of self harming. Surprisingly this really worked. Getting better. Thank you to everyone who supported me. x
