Hi everyone this is the first time I have done this so I don't know if I'm doing it right but I have just been diagnosed with emotional intensity disorder i already have severe depression and anxiety but I've never really came across EID and I'm not sure what it really means or met anyone with this so if people could try and help me understand what this is and what it means for me and the people around me I would be so grateful

Interesting. I was aware of the term but I didn't know it was being used by clinicians. There has been talk for quite some time about changing the name of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). Experts believe it is an inaccurate term for the disorder, and sufferers complain of being stigmatized because of it. When in doubt do a survey. A bunch of clinicians and patients were asked to vote.

The most liked terms were the following.

Emotional Regulation Disorder

Emotional Dysregulation Disorder

Emotional Intensity Disorder

Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder

Impulsive Personality Disorder

Impulsive-Emotional Dysregulation Disorder

For the moment I would tend to think in terms of BPD. When you see whoever diagnosed you I would ask how if at all Emotional Intensity Disorder differs from BPD.
