Hello,

It is true that it isn't just smokers who can contract COPD. However, did you smoke before developing COPD? Did you stop smoking immediately or do you still smoke?

@JazzyC Hello JazzyC,

That's sounds rough. How do you handle going out? I know restaurants and bars are non-smoking now, but there's usually a clutch of smokers huddled around the door.

I don't go out to restaurants much as I have various dietary issues but it is difficult at times. It isn't just cigarettes I am finding, some vapes, I hope that's the right word, can either make me feel sick or cause my chest to tighten. Luckily I don't have much sense of smell so that helps as it is only if I can actually smell the smoke or vape that I am too bad. I hope that makes sense it is difficult to explain what it is like

I smoked for years, even after being diagnosed with COPD and Bronciectasis then I got double pneumonia which nearly killed me.  As I lay in intensive care I made a promise that if I made it I would stop smoking.  I did and haven’t touched one in 3 years

I smoked too but like yourself Alison62 I got really ill and then was diagnosed with COPD fibrosis in my lungs and told I wouldn't make make 50 if I kept smoking so quite that day and off them 20 years now i now have bronciectasis and I do tighten up when someone walks past and blows out their smoke and I hate being around anyone who is using those vapping cigarettes
