Well to start I have depression and social anxiety, which often makes me feel very isolated and angry. I have been battling suicidal thoughts for a long time and decided to give it a bit of time to see if it gets better but it doesn't... I feel like maybe I would be better off? Does anyone feel that way? What do I do if I want to give up? Thank you.

Hello @rainbow768! How are you feeling today?

I am very sorry to hear about your mental struggles. I hope you know that you are valuable and you are amazing. Do you have someone to talk to? Have you tried therapy? It can be very helpful for some people. I will tag some members who might want to share their thoughts on this topic. Wishing you all the best!

Your best bet is going to your GP and getting help through them. My son and his ex tried to commit suicide last year, both got help but a complex process. Basically you need the NHS taking notice before getting some treatment mainly pills. They used three different ones to get the meds right and now it seems he is stable. His ex was already on the radar of mental health so was able to get help relatively quickly. Aggression was a real issue for my son who smashed up his house on a regular basis, even the Police attending at times. I have taken him in to be sectioned but they released him the next day but after several tries the meds are working.

His ex is a difficult one as we now care for their daughter and she has supervised access by me for a few hours a fortnight. My son has no access to his daughter unless he goes back to court which is a great inconvenience for us.

So suicidal thoughts are quite normal at times but carrying it through is thankfully rare, you can get help with such feelings. See your GP as a first point and accept the process, you are entitled to disability which can help whether working or not. Once the process has started you will find various charities that can help you and the Samaritans for urgent help now. Some of the charities have meets and socials locally, providing access to all sorts of services. Don't let yourself suffer alone, get some help now!
