Hi everyone,

Can anyone advise me on an exercise routine for my OA. I have it in one hip and can't walk more than five minutes until I am in pain. I am fit and strong but have no idea if I should do my leg exercises everyday or every other day, ect. I don't take any medication as my Dr told me that, apart from pain killers (which don't work) nothing works. ( I live in Spain).

Any advise would be welcome. Thank you.

Hi @Michelle260990,

Thank you for sharing your question with the community. I wanted to bring your message forward in case others may have missed it when you first posted. I know how tricky it can be to figure out an exercise routine when osteoarthritis is involved, especially when it affects your mobility like you mentioned. You shared that you have OA in one hip and can’t walk for more than five minutes without pain, and that you’re wondering whether to do leg exercises every day or every other day. It’s understandable to feel unsure, especially since managing osteoarthritis often involves finding the right balance between movement and rest.

To everyone here:

If you live with OA, how often do you do strengthening or stretching exercises?

What types of activities have helped you the most (for example, swimming, yoga, or gentle home routines)?

Have you found that certain pacing strategies, like doing exercises every other day, help reduce pain or stiffness?

Michelle, I hope you’ll find some helpful advice and encouragement here while you continue managing things your own way.

Take care,
