Hi everyone,

I have prostate cancer but for th moment I don't require treatment. But I am curious/nervous if it would affect my (sex) life if one day I have to get treatment.

Does anyone have experience with this?

Cheers

OK good and bad news the pump works to a degree, nowhere near the erections I was getting in November pre-operation. My concern is the pump seems to pull urine from my bowel into the pump tube so not exactly sexy if you're playing with your lady as you need somewhere to drain it out into I'm now wondering if when I do try having sex urine will flow into the ladies private parts? Also seem to we allergic to the ED tablets so that's a bummer.

Hi Philwood good to hear from you but sorry to hear the Radical Prostatectomy didn't clear everything.    You sound as though you have the right attitude though and have some good advise for others who may have to experience similar events in their life.   Sorry I didn't reply to you earlier but I don't tend to keep up with this as I perhaps should.    Good luck.. John.

2 years since Radical Prostatectomy, Now down to getting my PSA checked twice a year so thats looking good. Still no luck in the sexual department, tried the stuff you squirt up the penis but as never had much luck retracting my foreskin at any time in my life it was a somewhat hit or miss job finding the entrance. Again some success but not enough to get ready for a good session. Was offered penile injections but the thought of sticking a needle in every time I wanted sex was a total turn off and graciously refused. So where to next I have no idea as the hospital have nothing else to offer.

I'm now in remission, but especially directly after treatment, I experienced quite a bit of sexual dysfunction, specifically not being able to get an erection. My wife was very understanding, but it hurt my pride to not be able to "perform" like before. I would say that communication is really important here. Take your partner to your appointments so she hears everything you do and knows what to expect. That way no one's expectations are too high or too low.

@carbuilder‍

im told the pump keeps the penis in shape and id agree

i use it a few times every week and have not lost much lenght maybe 1/2 inch and im 3 years since radical prostatectomy

the rings supplied can be hit and miss and you need to work out which are best

the injection is also a success though i felt squeamish when i first read about it

you need training in how to inject and the needle is so fine you hardly feel it

once you master the injection you need to work out the amount to inject and not overdo it

if you underestimate then the session is wasted until another night but your nurse will help you sort that

my nurse say the phsychological effect of getting erect is probably more important than what you do with it but having your partner with you for every visit and training is important

Hi everyone, it's now been about a year or so since I've been officially in remission, and I'm still having dysfunction. Is this normal? Has anyone else had prolonged issues down there even after treatment and into remission?
