Hello everyone,

How are you today? 😊

Going through prostate cancer, from diagnosis to treatment and beyond, can be a challenging and quite scary journey. But sharing experiences can truly help others who are facing the same road.

If you've been through it, what advice would you give?

Are there things you wish you had known earlier?

What words of encouragement would you offer to someone newly diagnosed?

Hi, my Prostrate Treatment has been an initial increase of PSA value to above the 5 as set by the NHS for a patient of my age. Then the treatment continued with a biopsy which was negative. Further 6 monthly PSA blood tests. Another biopsy approx 2 years later was negative. My PSA still goes up in small bits and I am being monitored with 6 monthly blood tests.

Presently I have a PSA of 13 and due to have a hospital appointment to decide what to do next.

Be positive and stay focused, continue life as nearly as normal, if possible. Always question dont be afraid to ask the consultant. Change your lifestyle on what type of food you consume, eat healthy on the recommendations from the doctors.

as I am 78, I have no concerns about sex life problems, which is an enormous relief.

I have stage 4 and the cancer has spread, but having read up on the treatment I am receiving I am very positive that I will live until a cure is found( see link)

https://www.icr.ac.uk/about-us/icr-news/detail/over-a-decade-of-abiraterone-the-drug-that-revolutionised-advanced-prostate-cancer-care

So my advice is to remain positive, look after your health and enjoy life. Best of luck
