Breast cancer treatment plan can vary from one person to another, even though there is always a common base. I invite you to talk about your experience, compare your opinions and views on the subject of breast cancer treatment.

- What treatment you are currently undergoing? Do you find it effective so far? How does it make you feel?

- How and by whom was your treament plan established? Was your opinion taken into account?

If your sister died of it - have they done genetic testing on you? My sister had breast cancer- still alive thank God - and we had to go for genetic testing - important if you have children and for your own treatment. Anyway whatever your decision - my consultant said to me they would never let you make the wrong decision- it would have been appropriate for you.

We don't have the gene tg. My niece also has breast cancer and they tested her as she was the best candidate and it came back as negative thank god. It's some form of mutation that is being passed on and they have no test for it yet.

I am sorry - we did not have the gene either - as you sat thank God ! well that is one positive thing and now you have to build on each poitive step you take. Everybody says live in the moment- it is hard but it is the best way forward and if you don't manage it all the time- you manage it when you can. Best wishes with it all - you are strong - look what you have been through.

@Margaret1 My mother and grandmother had breast cancer, but I was told I would have to pay for the genetic test at a cost of £490.00 because of my breast cancer not being the sort that is usually BRCA, but it could be another mutation that they haven't tested for yet!! It's all money again! I decided not to have the test as would only cause more stress either way.

Ah well I was triple negative and my sister was hormonal Breast cancer. My mother's sister had ovarian cancer. My sister was worried about her. Daughters and grand daughters and we were offered the test free- that is in Yorkshire. Both of us had their test and both proved negative. So- I dont know what to say- these tests were free.

Finishing from. Above yes it was stressful but the results helped my sister with her children/ grandchildren and also I was told if they found something they would take preventative action to stop or try to prevent any thing developing.

@Margaret1 That's it - you can be negative to the BRCA but another gene could be causing the problem. Science is great at some things, but you have to weigh up the pros and cons. Thanks for your comments.

Thanks for your help I'm in Ireland. There are a few organisations I have looked into so I might try one of them. You are right it's the psychological side that tends to get ignored and it's the most important.

Hi jellag. I’m in Ireland too. I found eist brilliant. They kept in touch with me and I would have been lost without their help and therapy. It’s nice to have someone to talk to and they are all cancer survivors. Best of luck to you
