Undifferentiated autoinflammatory syndrome is an umbrella term used when someone has recurrent or chronic episodes of inflammation suggestive of an autoinflammatory disease, but no specific named syndrome or disease-causing genetic variant has been identified. Autoinflammatory diseases involve inappropriate activation of the innate immune system and can cause flares such as fever, rash, joint or abdominal pain, fatigue or raised inflammatory markers without an identified infection.
