Hi Razar, porridge surprised me the most. I thought it was a safe breakfast, but a big bowl of instant oats sent my readings up more than expected. A smaller portion of rolled oats with some Greek yogurt and nuts works much better for me now.
@J4kki7 same with white bread here. Wholegrain with some protein on it sits a lot better.

It's funny how we tend to think of cakes and chocolate when talking about blood sugar, but things like bread, rice and even certain breakfast cereals can have quite an impact too!
I think that's one of the trickiest things about managing type 2 diabetes. You can make what seems like a sensible food choice and still end up with a reading you weren't expecting.
I'm a big believer in making small changes rather than cutting out everything you enjoy. Having a smaller portion of carbohydrates, adding some protein or fibre, or going for a gentle walk after a meal can all be worth considering.
And I really don't think anyone should feel guilty over one higher reading. There's so much more involved than just what you've eaten, and learning what works for your body takes time. 💙

Hi everyone 👋
Living with type 2 diabetes can sometimes come with surprises, especially when it comes to food.
You might eat something you expected to be fine and then notice your blood sugar is higher than you thought. On another day, a meal you were worried about may affect you much less than expected.
Things like portion size, what foods are eaten together, activity, medications, stress and even the time of day can all make a difference, which is why everyone’s experience can look a little different.
Is there a food or meal that surprised you by affecting your blood sugar more than you expected?
Have you found a different portion, food combination or little change that works better for you now?
