@henrick Hello henrick, thank you for opening this discussion. Let me tag some other members who can potentially share with you on this.
Hi everyone, how are you doing?
Do you sometimes get up several times a night to urinate? How often? What do you think is the reason for this?

I think there could be a number of reasons. I can only speak for myself but I drink a lot of water, even when I get up during the night, I sometimes eat something when I get up which can affect my diabetes. Going to the toilet 2 or 3 times doesn’t really bother me and I often go even if I don’t feel like it. Ocassionaly I sleep right through which is nice. I guess on the whole I’m quite relaxed about it but I need to look at what I’m doing before I go to bed, drinking too much water late in the evening, staying up too late etc. Just need to try some different strategies and see what works.

I think for me its if I drink tea or coffee after 8 at night.

I seem to be in a minor relapse at the moment. 12 months ago I was getting up 4 or 5 times a night! Currently only once or twice. I get large Continence pads from the NHS. I need to plan car journeys in order to avoid travelling for more than 75 minutes. I have to drink voluminously because I get pain from kidney stones.

Thank you all for your replies. I'm glad to know that I'm not alone with this. I guess I'll have to cut myself off in the early evening!

Yes an indicator of diabetes and can also be linked to prostate issues. There are a few drugs your GP can prescribe for certain related other conditions but for most you have to live with it.

It doesn't matter whether I drink tea last thing or not. I think the effect of lying down lets liquid reach my bladder more easily. It does not feel like diabetes is the cause: occasionally I have a high when I get into bed and I really feel the difference - up every 20/30 minutes for a couple of hours.

Hi all, recently I've started having to get up more than 4 times a night to urinate... Has anyone else been through this? I'm having a hard time pinpointing if this is a "man thing" or a "diabetes thing" so I thought I'd ask you all.
Thanks
