Hi Your urine will often have a strong odour, there can be any number of reasons. It could be the length of time between trips to the loo... The food you've eaten... Medications? Our old friend Metformin can be the cause of you dropping off to sleep? When I first started taking the drug, I couldn't keep my eyes open, sit down and zonk, I've gone. I was at a dinner party and afterwards I sat down with glass of Port one of the other guests started talking to me about golf. Yep you've guessed... I promptly fell asleep mid story..... Very riviting???? You'll get alsorts of advice from other members, so hang in there my friend.   STAY SAFE Regards Rich.

Hi members, have you ever experienced a change in urine odour? Could it have a link to your diabetes medicines? What do you think?

Take care,
Courtney

Although there are many causes of smelly wee it is quite common with diabetics as protein increases in your urine. Smelly or frothy urine is a norm at the moment for me at the moment as I put on a little weight recently so poor control of your/my diabetes may be the cause. I'm going on a diet which usually brings things back to normal rather than pursue a increased medication option. Below is something I found online that may be helpful:

Diabetes
'People who have undiagnosed diabetes are "spilling out sugar into their urine," Dr. Dutta says. That's because they can't process sugar the way most people can, meaning they have excess glucose in the blood, which the body tries to get rid of through the urine. "When you have that extra sugar in your urine, it's going to give it a sweet, fruity smell," she explains. People with uncontrolled diabetes will likely also have increased pee urgency or frequency, as the sugar irritates the bladder''. Explore Health

Although discussing undiagnosed diabetes it was a reasonable explanation to explain the issues.
