It does not sound right under the present circumstances. Have you spoken to Welfare Rights?

I work for a care company as a senior caregiver. I have type 2 diabetes and am on lots of medication for it. I also have high cholesterol and allergies. I had bells palsy last year. Got text from doctor's 3 weeks ago and am now off for 12 weeks and being furlough. My work are brilliant and are paying me the other 20 percent. I usually work 40 hours a week. I have 2 young adults my offspring looking after me.

I am diabetic type 2 and on 2 lots of tablets for it and also on high blood pressure tablets I work in the nhs in a emergency control room, I don't want to say which one at the momentbut I have to work, no choice but I am living in fear everyday, there are a few people in my work place that have been tested positive for covid 19 and are off, there are quite a few in the building and social distancing is awkward I have to work but I am so scared as I am overweight too although lost 3 stone currently I am not thin, I am doing my best to control my type 2 but just in fear all the time I work 12 hour rotating shifts days and nights,
I nearly lost my husband last year as found out he was type 1 in DKA and pneumonia nearly died but came though it he is 69, so last year my sugars where all over the place and was put on a extra tablet I have my annual check coming up in a few months hoping it has improved, they think it was due to stress that my recent hb test was up as previously good control. Although I have been told that tress cant cause sugars to go up that was my diabetic nurse who said that. At the moment not sleeping very well as I fear this covid like a lot of others do

that's what is worrying me, but cannot stay off work, my own gp has only recommened stringent social distancing that cannot happen I work in a control room of about 20 people in one room and lots more in another in the same building, I just keep thinking about it. I honestly don't think the government has looked after the diabetic , should have been more strict, just have to keep my fingers crossed I guess thanks stay safe

I am T2, high bood pressure sufferer. I received a letter from the NHS saying that based on my health conditions I was extremely vulnerable to the Covid virus and should self isolate for 12 weeks. This letter also served as a self certificate to stay away from work for the period.
i strongly believe you should not be at work at this time.

Hello everyone,
Since the Coronavirus pandemic concerns many across the UK (and Carenity members too), I've created this discussion to allow you to talk specifically about the virus in the context of Type 2 diabetes, as we all know that people with underlying health conditions can be more affected.
If you haven't yet seen, we've published a few articles outlining the general information and guidelines for both the general population and for those with chronic illnesses:
Coronavirus: What do you need to know?
Coronavirus and chronic illness
Are you worried about the coronavirus? Have you received any special instructions from your doctor regarding your care? Are you going to limit your travel? Do you feel that you are sufficiently informed about the general and specific recommendations? Have you taken any specific precautions?
Feel free to share your comments or questions below!
Take care,
Courtney
