I have a lot of pain in my knees and use an anti-inflammatory gel (such as voltaren gel) to relieve the pain. It doesn't make the pain go away, but it relieves a bit, so it doesn't hurt too much to walk. I also have problems with my hips, but it has improved since I lost weight.

I have arthritis in both hands causing me pain and limiting my day to day living. Under the hospital awaiting splints for the hands to see if this makes any changes. Makes me a little down in the dumps needless to say. I am currently working but don't think I can carry on much longer.

I also have a lot of pain all the time in my hands and knees. What has helped me a lot is doing yoga and as georgess says I also use voltaren sometimes or arnica. A really good recipe I learned is to put some arnica leaves in alcohol and leave it there for one month and then with some cotton put the alcohol in the places that hurt the most.
Hope it helps!!!
Cheers

I have always had some arthritis since childhood, but the last few years ( I am 69 ) it is getting much worse now my neck and head is so bad I am waiting to go to the pain clinic. I cannot take pain killers as they upset a colon problem. Any ideas ?

I'm new too. When first diagnosed 4 yrs ago went on a diet and started zumba, belly dancing and salsa classes. Went from 12 stone to 9 and a half. Had no arthritis symptoms at all. In the last year not been doing so much exercise and put some of the weight back on. Also just come off the steroids the doc gave me and I'm stiffening up all over. pain in hips, knees and fingers. Going to go back to the exercise once the weather warms up!

The best thing I have found to help keep my arthritic joints moving is aquafit! It's the only thing I can do for any length of time that doesn't hurt and makes me move stopping me from seizing up. Also, I don't get horribly out of breath meaning I can carry on for longer...and as a bonus I don't sweat (and I enjoy the music) All round good fun and good for me too :-)...and my other exercise just makes me wanna cry!

I also find aquafit very beneficial. The water supports your joints, enabling you to do more and for longer without the pain that occurs when on " dry land". You are also left with a feeling of wellbeing. The feeling of sliding into the warm water is wonderful.

Hi everyone, i am a new member to this site... never the less when it comes to rheumatoid arthritis i have suffered from it for 20yrs, i am 50yrs old.
I have arthritis in many joints, hands, wrist, knees, ankles neck, head, elbow, shoulders, and back. At the moment my pain is worse in the elbow which is now bent this seems to have a direct impact on the shoulder.
The medication i have been on for past 20yrs don't seem to be doing the same job it did 15yrs ago. Has well as not hitting the pain in the effected joints it makes me very tired, nausea and upsets my stomach, oh and itching especially in the hands.
Well thats my introduction and a little bit about my condition.

Hello everyone,
Which symptoms does your arthritis give and are you able to relieve the pain? Tips are much appreciated.
Good day to you all,
