I have had this since 2010. I had a mri after seeing orthopedics, got ref to physio and that made it worse. Needs a knee replacement but already stated they would not do one as too young. I have fibro as wll but take tramodol it does help. Some days cannot even walk at all. It can get painful.

I had that too, I am down for a knee replacement but am only just 60 so I am too young. I take tramadol too and when it flares up I increase my dosage to include lunchtimes. Do you think yours could be flaring up ? Think I would be inclined to go back to get it checked over when mine first started it was agony I requested an MRI at A & E which was refused and then I developed massive bruises which I was told after could have been caused by a bleed - hope you get sorted and some relief from the pain

I have been suffering with both knees since the age of 14 I am now 49 and I was told I would have to put up with it I could take paracetamol if I found the pain was unbearable I have been doing this from day one. I have lots of different problems now I have got multiple Degenerative Disc Disease, Fibro, OA, Depression & a few other problems but I have noticed that I am getting more pain in my knees this last few months.

Thanks for your comments everyone. I think I need to go back to GP as this is not getting any easier!! Hate going tho. Always feel a bit of waste of time.

Hi when I was about 50 I had to stop my running which had kept me in trim for a lot of years, this was through persistent Knee pain. And was caused through OA, then when I reached the grand old age of 75 I had my right knee replaced with an excellent result (brilliant) and I am to have my left knee replaced in three weeks time hopefully I should be able to walk pain free after the op. The moral of this story is that TKR is the only way forward, it is just a pity that your has to turn grey before you can have it done.

I have just had my worse knee replaced 6months ago I'm only 49, best thing ever. Even my other knee feels a bit better although I know I will need it replaced in the next couple of years. It was really a tough op but really pushed the physio after I now have a great range of movement can kneel and gone back to yoga. Can totally recommend it.

I have just been diagnosed with OA in my left knee and possibly my back and hips also rheumatoid arthritis in my right hand. Pain is excrutiating and I don't sleep well. Any ideas what I can use to help, already on strong painkillers!

AliMack same trouble as you, nights waking, not sleeping, too much pain turning in bed with weight of duvet. I take Amytriptyline haven't looked back plus pain killers and naproxen. This doesn't always work as the winter months and any stress makes pains worse for me. Doctors best port of call. Right knee replaced this has really helped. I noticed cream or ice cream eating has made my pain worse noticed this over a number of years. Every person is different though.

Hi all. I know about the pain of OA but recently I have twice now on separate occasions, had the most excruciating pain in the back of my right knee. Was just getting into my car both times. Couldn't drive, stand or anything for about an hour. Just had to sit in car and wait for the pain to ease enough to .move my foot from one pedal to another!! Really bad pain.
Just wondered if anyone else experienced anything like this?? I'm not sure if it's related or something else? Any comments welcome. Thank you.
