Thank you BeswickM. Yes, I do take Rosehip supplements now and again, not regularly. I have recently bought two bottles to start on them soon. I need them more in the winter. Has any one tried Green Lipid Muscle supplements for Arthritis? Do they work? I will be interested to know. I tried Devil's Claw but they upset my stomach terribly.
Thank you

This is just a general note after reading a lot of the comments on this stream I have managed the osteo arthritis for over 30 years without drugs - attention to diet - lifestyle changes until I fell and severed a main ligament down the side of my knee. This has hampered me and made me walk differently so I had muscle wastage and it impacted on my spine. A few paracetamols and fewer codeine compound tablets got me over the worst with a support strap around knee. Got rid of that now (accident March this year) no drugs at all. Stiffness inhibiting and spasmodic pain which I am coping with.
The main dietary thing is never never eat fruit as a pudding. Always eat your fruit around 20 mins before any protein. They digest at different rates and if the fruit is on top of the protein it doesnt digest properly ( ferments)and produces acids which react with the whole meal and cause acidity and toxins. Anti inflammatory foods particularly are celery and pineapple. Dont combine protein and carbohydrate . It is better to eat say salmon and salad or leaf vegetables . In fact look up the Hay diet it is helpful. It has worked for me with supplements of a good vitamin and mineral mix - dont take vits alone, its the minerals that help them work. Check this out for a trial with your doc - not advice - just my regime that keeps me going - nearly 76 and doing voluntary work nearly full time so it works for me and not harmful. If you are not a vegetarian you can buy food grade collagen on line which is helpful nutrition for ligaments tendons etc.
I still swim - not breast stroke cos of knees, use a freeze pack on knee, walk, clean etc. My osteomyologist told me to do everything that I normally do and gave me stretching exercises to keep muscles in trim and restore their strength.Hope this proves helpful to someone - wont kick in immediately then there
are no magic wands.

Hi Anukarma
I totally agree with you about right diet, vitamin and mineral supplements and exercise. My right knee is totally worn out and was told last year that I must have a Total Knee Replacement soon. I am nearly 73 and going to the gym once a week, swimming twice a week, cook, clean exercise the lot. Yes,, I take Collagen too. keeping active most certainly helps. I am going to manage with what I am doing for as long as I possibly can before I think about the knee replacement. The last Spinal Surgery for Scoliosis has left me with a bent back due to a bend from my hips and I need crutches to walk
Good luck to you, and carry on doing what ever that you are doing to keep you active and with minimal pain.

Do not hesitate to let the community know what is it that you find most helpful in dealing with osteoarthritis pain. Is it the right medication? Diet? Exercise? The support of your caregivers? Your mental well-being?
Thank you!

Unfortunately my wife Judy suffered excruciating pain for many years that in the end she had enough and lost the will to live any more. Arthritis ended up being the worst pain she suffered, her right hip imobilised her towards the end, her knees also needed replacing. She gave up waiting for any operations, and so died in her sleep.

I have recently been diagnosed as having mild osteoarthritis of both my hips. Well the Dr at the hospital called it mild but it certainly doesn't feel mild when the pain is giving me a butt kicking, which has been constantly just recently.
There's nothing I can do to relieve the pain and there are times where I have no feeling in my legs and feet because of it. Given that I already have degenerative disc disease, when I'm in severe pain from that and severe pain from the osteoarthritis in my hips, it's hard to tell which affects the other the most, and then telling the medical experts about the level of pain I'm in is difficult too. When you tell the doctors and specialists that you are in a high level of pain from the combination of pain from your hips and pain from your back, they don't seem to believe you and think that you are exaggerating your pain.
If only that were the case!!
