Hello everyone,

Unfortunately, having a chronic condition can severely limit the amount of energy and strength a person has. We wanted to ask you, how much exercise do you manage every day? Is it a short walk? A cycle? A swim?

Please share in the comments below and we can encourage each other to move more (within our capabilities) to have healthier lifestyles!

Also, if you’re looking for some recommendations for exercises to do at home, read our article filled with suggestions for you!

No I just going to the gym do you a little bit as I suffer from back hip issues so just do all in one place and get it over and done with as my motivation isn't very good

Due to my back problems I don't do strenuous or heavy exercise.

I walk lots and if there's stairs, I'll walk up them instead of taking an elevator or escalator, obviously within reason! When in the city, I'll walk the long way round to get somewhere to make sure I've had my exercise for the day.

Hello everyone, until I was given a pain injection in my knee late last year I have remained active including doing my own shopping, washing, ironing and voluntary for several groups. However I became incapacitated in December while waiting for a knee operation, I cannot weight bear on my right knee without making the pain and swelling worse, I cannot exercise only chair exercises and everyone in the care & medical sector say there is nothing they can do till my operation is performed.I have been waiting for treatment since last May., with worsening symptoms. I force myself to do a little walking everyday but not sure if that is sensible. This is unbearable pain when standing my Knee does not work properly and my weight goes up adding to the problem. Painkillers only reduce the pain and I have been taking painkillers for years now so the effect is very little, my muscles are now getting weak any ideas of exercise that might be worth trying ? I have multi joint arthritis, COPD/Asthma, slightly raised blood pressure from the current stress, Gout,  The strain of walking on a bad leg is causing raised breathing issues too, and stress on the good leg. I am over 70.

Its hard to get motivated but it is of some benefit, I try to go out once a day for about 20-30 mins at a time to exercise myself and my dog. During that time I may walk 1/4-1/2 mile stopping to rest , some days more than others. So days I feel good other time not so.  I use mind over matter to get me out and relaxation technique when I am home.

Before the  Coronovirus Pandemic and eminent lockdown,  I was very active daily and went to the gym 3 to 4 times weekly.

I went for a walk with mg present daily step count being 10,000 steps.

As the virus is highly contagious,  I have not been out of the house for 3 weeks and am feeling anxious and worried about putting on weight.

I was 80kg until last August when I put 2 kg in 3 weeks during my holiday to South Africa at my in laws.

I started a training programme in September 2019 and my weight fell to 77kg by Nov, only for it to go back to 80kg in March. I went 5 days to Switzerland 5 - 10th of month.  Now doing home exercises on apps will not reverse that weight. There is a family history of Diabetes and Heart disease, and I don't want to succumb to that.

I'm overweight for my height of 5'5 inches and at increased risk of cardiovascular disease.

I try not to worry as it will only trigger my seizures,  to date has been no more than 2 a month from 5. Most likely because I have nothing to do.

I'm jobless and it's stressing me out. My wife cannot increase her hours (13 a week) as she gets Carers Allowance for me.

I don't want to be on benefits forever but it is unlikely I will be able to sell things online due to Social distancing and people spending less.

I have been unable to secure a job in 4 years after dismissal on incapability. I was offered a work placement in 2018 for 2 months and offered a job at another solicitors.  This didn't work out as my boss said I am too slow and make too many mistakes.

I'm fed up of the Labour market and volunteered alot offering unpaid work.

I guess everyone have problems but I don't see others in my wider family having a hard time finding work.

Well this coronavirus has a lot to answer for, its reduced what small activity we could do to virtually nil if you are highly vulnerable then told you are not entitled to home delivery shopping from Sainsburys, only click and collect in three weeks time. As anyone come up with any ideas for exercise if you can't go out for 12 weeks ? I have found some on line to do on the bed or chair from the NHS website.  But can't do my usual exercise of walking to the shop under this advice of no outside activity only in your own garden, and a change in my health condition. It is very frustrating . But I am far more lucky than some so remain optimistic that by staying home I will remain free of the virus. ,

Thanks for telling me about exercises  on this site, you can also get them on Arthritis Action, British lung Foundation, NHS site , Healthunlocked, local council website and talk health but to name a few. The ones I have are specifically for the illness I have  not just to meet the coronavirus crisis and they are available at all times. Our local council also supplies details of mental health organisations to contact for emotional needs in fact I feel bombarded with such literature while struggling as a vulnerable person to get a delivery from my normal shopping outlet and being reliant on a weekly hamper from the council which I do appreciate  eveh if not what I usually eat.
