Hello everyone,

Unfortunately, having a chronic condition can severely limit the amount of energy and strength a person has. We wanted to ask you, how much exercise do you manage every day? Is it a short walk? A cycle? A swim?

Please share in the comments below and we can encourage each other to move more (within our capabilities) to have healthier lifestyles!

Also, if you’re looking for some recommendations for exercises to do at home, read our article filled with suggestions for you!

I do aqua aerobics twice a week, it's great fun. All of us ladies keep each other motivated, plus we also have social events outside of the class.Im also trying to go swimming once a week.

I 've been given balancing exercises, to prevent me from falling also I do my own exercises daily for about 15 minutes.  When I go to comic cons, I do alot of walking though not realising it.  It  takes me about a week to recover a weekend away at comic con.  During this time it's a struggle to return to some sort of routine.

I personally don't do any form of extra exercise, I manage to cut the grass but now have to do it in stages as no longer can do it in one stretch as well as do my neighbours grass.

I have a little dog who takes me out mostly twice a day!! Usually for 30 mins each time.  I also swim twice a week for an hour each time. I feel this level of exercise is good for my hips which have been replaced.  I used to do circuits but I was getting pain in the older hip!( replaced in 2007)

I feel much better after exercise

I go out for a 8krun walk most mornings before going to work.  Also cycle to work.  exercise is a key to my mental health if I didn’t do it I would drop fast. The more I do the more motivated I am.  Go dog walking with Samson and swimming. 😁😁

I swim twice a week, attend Aqua aerobics once a week and go to the gym once a week. I also do chair based exercises for seniors and stretches and lying on the mat exercises as and when I can fit them in  in my daily busy schedule. i have just purchased a Tai Chi chair exercise DVD for seniors. I haven't had a go yet. It only arrived today, but will have a go soon. I am very exercise motivated, but not able to exercises standing up, as I need crutches or furniture to stand for any length of time. In the house I do not use crutches as I can sit down when my bent back hurts a lot. But can not manage without crutches out on the road.

Hi! I am sad to say that my ablety to exercise is some what reduced, however I try to walk 10,000 steps daily however I would have to stop frequently to sit down and rest, this is due to my feet with protruding bones of my big toes, I also have  to stop due to pain and discomfort in my spine, shoulders, arms and both hands keep swelling for no reason, I have to at least keep trying each day to do what I can do and not to worry about the things that I can do nothing about. I recently  had two mini strokes known as TIAs.

I have been doing exercises for arthritic joints for many years adviced by physio. My other daily exercises are housework, walking on the flat. I used to do the Gym two days a week but it made my arthritis worse. I have been told to continue my limb exercises for life a couple of times a day. Have been told I have a torn ligament in my knee so activities are restricted again.  There are of course many chair excercises for the housebound and I am partial to music and movement think its called mindfulness activity these days. Its about keeping flexible joints and not loosing muscle capacity. Many things can still be done when older but at a slower pace. I probably tore my knee ligament stepping on and off public transport as they do not always put the step down. But Hey I am still walking if somewhat painful even with extra drugs. Always keep exercise within your own limits.
