In my case A.S has caused my whole body to react and it sets me back severely with flares. I don't find many foods that I could put down to a flare but stress does. My family have many dramas and as a Mother I try to help them with their woes. But that is having a drastic effect on my physical and mental health. I get chronic bowel problems ( IBS ) and sores all over my body where I perspire. I do have a heart condition and tend to stay where it is cool at home. ( I live in a remote part of Indonesia where it is hot and humid ). If I try to cook or be in the heat, I am wet through within minutes. At almost 76 years old, I feel that my kids should manage their own lives and not put any strain on me. Oh for a comfortable life, whats left of it that is. Hope and Hugs. G

Hi @GloriaG

I am sure you are not alone. Many of our members can sympathize with living with an illness while also having parenting responsibilities. Have you talked to your children about helping you cook more of the meals to relieve some of the burden? I do not believe it is too much to ask...What do our members think?

@Cokecan222 @Littlebo @Jason1 @thedavid @sASha! @1976apache @Coling @Missy2 @eileengreen @SuziBloor @Catblonde @Jenpat @tracy1966 @Suzief @Shelldurrant @Juliewulie1957 @tcmmcm @Lulu_33 @jennyb28 @Sprinkles @Skipstar22 @sahrish

Are any of our members in a similar situation? What triggers your flares? How do you deal with at-home responsibilities while not feeling your best? Do you have any tips to share?

Take care,

Lizzi

@LizziB Thank you for your kind thoughts. Sadly my adult kids live thousands of miles away from me in a very different World to me. I do have a wonderful adult daughter living at home here. She is mostly amazing and I have to lean on her for many things. She is busy after graduating from University with flying colours. I adopted her from birth when her birth mother didn't want her. She is now 23 years old. We are soul mates. So I am very lucky in many ways. Just hard to count them through the pain. Any advice is always welcome. Love and Hugs to you all..G

Hi @GloriaG

It must be tough to be away from your kids. But it is also so wonderful you have someone around to check in on you. Congrats to her for graduating- That is a great accomplishment! I'll open it up to some other members to see if they have any suggestions for managing pain.

What do you do to manage your flares? How do you manage pain? Any advice?

@LizziB Thank you so much for your reply. I hope anyone who has seen it will post on pain management and help those of us who are so isolated.
