Asthma and life post-COVID-19

Hi

I am on Fostair twice a day and have my blue inhaler with me every time I go out, as tend to use it more nowadays than before, I have been asked to book an appointment with the Asthma nurse again this month, but really don’t want to go to the doctor’s if I can help it, I work with young children up to the age of 10 and for ever catching everything going, even a sneeze I tend to catch it, and they are expecting us to go back in June, my hubby also has Parkinson’s and cannot go to work so he does a lot from home, but I’m not sure what to do as not heard from my dr.

I have Asthma and Bronchiectasis.  I haven’t received a shielding letter. My husband also has two chronic medical conditions  - no letter for him either.  We have been self-isolating from the beginning though my husband has to do any grocery shopping we need, collect our medication and walk our dog. My GP said although we are considered to be in the at risk category, we are not considered to be in the very high risk category. That, apparently makes all the difference. To be honest, I find the whole thing very confusing.  I feel it would have been more helpful if people had at least been told why they’re not getting a shielding letter instead of leaving us to worry about whether or not we should have received one or have we been left of the list by mistake. As I said, it’s all very confusing. I’m certain there are many people in similar situations. I also suffer with anxiety, panic and depression, I’m taking prescribed medication for that,  However it’s been much worse since the lockdown. I occasionally have better days which I’m glad of, but it’s the uncertainty of everything that is the main problem here.  

Would definitely know why the shielding letter was sent, I consider myself to have very mild asthma- even if over the last year I’ve lived at doctors. Checked with the doctor and said yep u should be 

@Tigger2020 I am in the same situation as you and very confused about what to do .As when my asthma is controlled i feel fine and guilty about not working ,however I can have asthma attacks quite quickly i also work with young children who are back at school so will be in more contact with who knows what 

I would love some advice 

I'm due to return to work in June 

I am a key worker and am taking ventolin and clenil, and have been told I have moderate asthma, should I be self isolating for 12 weeks, I have not had a letter. I don't know what I am supposed to be doing.

How are you doing? Now that life is returning to normal with the COVID-19 jab I thought we could check in with one another.

How are you doing now? Have you had your COVID jab? Will you be getting a booster dose? Are you still taking any measures to protect yourself or have things gone "back to normal" in your life? Do you have any concerns about the delta variant?

@Courtney_J Things have more or less gone back to "normal" for me, though I still wear my mask and avoid crowded places to the best I can. I know it's relatively "safe" now since so many people have been vaccinated, but part of me is still hesitant in those situations. I don't know if I'll ever go back to the cinema or theatre in the near future. 

Has anyone gotten notification about the booster jab? 

@frederica I haven't heard anything yet but I assume as I'm eligible I will in due course. I'll be interested to know which vaccine I'll be getting since I read that they'll be using Pfizer or Moderna and I had the AstraZeneca before. I wonder if there'll be more or less side effects.
