The only exercise I can comfortably mange to do is walking. Especially when it's too hot or cold as my asthma is worse when I'm too hot or cold.

@sophiesmum yes, walking can be a great way to exercise if you suffer from severe asthma.

I have a twist and shape exercise machine and I try to do 20 mins in morning and 20 mins evening but when i'm not to good in myself like the last couple of weeks I haven't been on it much, chest's been bad ( antibiotics and steroids) and after that I had a flare up of colitis. This is pretty good for me as according to the monitor I'm losing around 300 calories a time whether this is right or not I'm getting exercise which is good for me.

@mjteddy The twist and shape machine sounds very useful and congrats on losing 300 calories at a time! That it quite significant for daily exercise.
I hope your flare up will pass soon...it is never easy :(

In the past I haven't done a lot of exercise because of my asthma. I am on a new treatment, have come off the steroids, lost weight and now do quite a bit of walking. I frightened my son the other week, he took me to Stourhead and thought I would have to turn round and come back once the path got rougher, went up steps and became steeper. I didn't and managed to walk all the way round. He's one side of the lake frantically looking for me and I am the other side trying to attract his attention. The more exercise I do the better I feel and the better my asthma is

Asthma can make your everyday life more difficult, especially if it is of a severe type, and it may be hard to do or to force yourself to do certain things, like exercise.
However, doing sport is very important for people with ashtma, as it helps strengthen the heart and the lungs, and stay in an overall good health.
What about you? Do you continue doing physical exercises despite your asthma? In what way do you think it helps you?
What kind of sport do you do and do you prefer outdoor or indoor activities?
Thank you in advance for your replies!
