Asthma can make your everyday life more difficult, especially if it is of a severe type, and it may be hard to do or to force yourself to do certain things, like exercise.

However, doing sport is very important for people with ashtma, as it helps strengthen the heart and the lungs, and stay in an overall good health.

What about you? Do you continue doing physical exercises despite your asthma? In what way do you think it helps you?

What kind of sport do you do and do you prefer outdoor or indoor activities?

Thank you in advance for your replies!

Looking at the comments about swimming, I used to go fairly regularly 30-40 years ago but gave up because of all the chlorine in the water, it wasn't so much my chest problems as it was it irritated my eyes very badly even wearing goggles or a face mask didn't work and the only time I've been in a pool since was on my honeymoon in Greece and that never bothered me.

@Pennylein64 I don't have a preventer inhaler anymore as either a doctor or asthma nurse took me off it as they said that my asthma is under control. I did try a different inhaler a while ago, but I had to stop taking it as it was making me feel sick whenever I used.

I'm back on my original reliever inhaler now and my asthma is fine with it as I use a breathing technique that one of my female cousins on my mum's side of my family (don't have a clue either way with my late dad's side of my family if any of them have asthma.

I think my late nanna (my late dad's late mum) may have had asthma as I think she used to use an inhaler, but I'm not 100% sure either way.

My mum told me that my late nanna did have quite a few medical conditions as she was on a few different tablets (I'm not sure how she was on exactly tho) . My mum also told me that my late nanna's epilepsy was triggered by the shock of my granddad (my late dad's dad) and my auntie Mary (my late dad's eldest sister) close together as my granddad had cancer and my auntie Mary was killed in an accident at work. I never met either of them as my granddad passed away when my dad was 15 and my auntie Mary passed away when my dad was younger too.

I do remember my late dad having either one or two old black and white photos of my auntie Mary, but I don't know what happened to them after my nanna came for him (my mum told me that my late nanna had come for my late dad instead of just saying that my dad had passed away or died as that way I knew that my dad wasn't alone when he went to sleep as my nanna was with him) as myself and my fiance were unable to get to my hometown for my dad's last Christmas due to my fiance's old first work coach where we were living at the time basically lying to my fiance as my fiance's old first work coach agreed one thing with my fiance and then put something completely different on his commitments.

I just walk...If I hit a hill I suffer breath wise but walking on the flat is ok as long as not too brisk..I used to swim a lot but the chlorine gets to me and it gets too much for my skin as makes it dry and itchy even though I always showered straight away.
