@lshaw004

Hi Ishaw, a joint replacement isn't always the answer! I had my right hip replaced years ago & after the initial few months the difference was amazing, so I was happy to go ahead & get the left one replaced last year. I have never really recovered from that op as I have developed OA in other joints between the 2 ops!!! If it is just the one joint you have problems with then a replacement is great but when the pain is in multiple joints & you have other health problems it can make matters worse!!!

I suffer from Arthritis in my spine, both knees, neck, fingers and toes. It was well controlled on Anti inflamatories called Celebrex. When the media reports came out that the medication was causing people to have heart attacks, I decided to stop them and started Natural therapies. I take Glucosamine sulphate, MSM, Omega 3 Codliver oil, Ginger, Rose Hip Syrup and about 2 years ago, started taking Turmeric milk and Turmeric supplements. It has made a tremendous improvement in my pain level. I stopped taking Paracetamol and Tramadol and started going to the gym to use Tred Mill, Cross trainer, Rowing machine and some weights. I also do swimming twice a week. All this has made a tremendous difference in my pain level. Swimming takes away the pain in the water and also helps improve general strength in my muscles. Most importantly, I remain positive, and do not let pain slow me down. I would recommend Natural therapy to Prescription medications any day, but of course for some, they may not have this choice.

Like some one said earlier, different people react to different things and there is no One size fit all solution but movement is of extreme importance. You HAVE to keep moving in order to become more flexible. If you don't use it, you lose it. So it is very important to keep your joins moving. Even when sitting in a chair, keep rotating your ankles and your shoulders, turn your neck from side to side, have a little stretch while waiting for the kettle to boil. All this helps.

I hope this is helpful to those who have not yet tried the combination of natural therapy and exercises. Even if your mobility is so impaired, it is still helpful to keep moving your joints from a chair and bed.
