Osteoarthritis is the most form of arthritis and it most commonly occurs in the spine, hands, hips, knees and spine.

Where does your osteoarthritis affect you? Is it just one location or several?

@nessie1954 Mine started in lower back excruciating first was told it was sciatica then I had X-rays & MRI was having injections but they were stopped I’ve taken all kinds of pain Relief I now have it in hip, knee I recently broke my ankle in 3 places been in plaster for 6 weeks now in a moon boot for 8 weeks I was non weight bear for 6 weeks since I’ve started to walk ( very slowly) my back is killing me I am on crutches now & it gets slightly easier.
Does anyone use crutches with their back problems as I’m getting a little stronger I find it easier walking with crutches rather than my walking stick I used before my accident

@nessie1954‍ I use crutches when back is particularly painful, I find that they keep me a little more upright than walking stick. I also have spinal arthritis with stenosis, I can’t walk very far or very fast either and have lost a couple of discs.
Hope ankle heals well.

@nessie1954‍

I have had 5 spinal surgeries from 2010 t0 2015.  Since then I am bent forward from my hips and i am walking with crutches since 2013. They keep me more upright than 2 sticks. Crutches are my life companion. They are for ever. I don't need them in the house, but i can not walk far without them outdoors.

I have never been given any form of walking aid in all the years I have back pain & even when my knee started being painful & giving way when I was walking, even when I broke my ankle on being discharged it was a walking frame which really hurt my back, my husband suggested the crutches when I came out of the plaster cast, we bought them & they have been brilliant really got me moving  I’m slowly weaning out the moon boot only to wear it outside & I use both crutches out doors I certainly feel they have helped my back & im walking straighter so hubby says with the ankle it’s like learning to walk again. I certainly feel more confident with crutches than I did with sticks

My arthritis in my neck, knees, and lower back. It makes me feel very tired and makes me off balance. And It also is affecting my vision too. It is a daily struggle. Not very nice for an old pensioner. I used to keep fit by using weights. Now, I cannot do it anymore.

Hi everyone,  it's so sad to read how many people are suffering with pain due to OA.

I have had pains in my back, my wrists/hands, my neck, my shoulders and hips for years.

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 2007 and now my pains are always due to that, so the G P says  . I was in so much pain and asked them for a private referral.  I saw a spine specialist within weeks, got an MRI done and was then told that I have severe arthritis in my lumbar spine, Scoliosis bilateral and bulging discs.  I was relieved but also angry,  as I have had this pain for years. Anyway, IT WASN'T FIBROMYALGIA PAIN!

I had 3 different procedures:steroid injection in my spine which was amazing and I had no pain for about 6 weeks. My hubby said I was like a different woman. Then I had a second procedure facet joint injection but this didn't last very long either.  I can't remember the name of the last procedures but it didn't give me pain relief  for long.

I have recently had another MRI on my spine, via NHS because its been 2 years since I had the private MRI.

I suffer with sciatic pain daily and I hope they can sort this pain out, too.  I use a walking stick when pain is bad.

I would also like to know more about CBD. Have you had it prescribed? Do you buy it privately? Where do I learn the dosage?

Hope you are having an ok day  xx

I have an appointment at the end of this month with Muscle Skeletal department.

I have it all over now and so there is no good days. My lumbar spine is the most painful and I call that pain a 'screaming pain' I thought I must have a low pain threshold until I read others experience of pain and I have DDD also and so it is painful and confusing for there is no answer. I will not have a fusion for I have heard so much that is negative. I can stand for around 3 minutes holding on to the kitchen counter, to make a cup of tan and then the pain starts and so walking anywhere, even with my rollator is painful and I use my rollator to sit on when the pain goes too much. Thoughts to all of you who are in this terrible condition with me. x

Both hands and wrists.  Right wrist has had the trapezium bone removed.

Put it down to a lot of heavy manual work servicing and repairing carriages and wagons in the 1980s and 1990s, in cold and damp conditions, often with metal hand tools.
