Hello everyone,

When people talk about cancer, it is generally focused around the physical impact that cancer can have on you. This can be especially difficult with prostate cancer, because it has difficult consequences concerning libido, penis size/function as well as impacting your skin, appetite...

However, today I want to ask you about how having cancer has changed you mentally. The PTSD that can follow the diagnosis and treatment of cancer isn't mentioned as much. So, how has your cancer mentally impacted you? Do you have nightmares about it coming back or getting worse? Do you feel depressed or motivated by your diagnosis?

Hi Michael B, OK at present, just a bit uncomfortable, hower, got my cystoscopy appointment at 9.30 am Friday. Hopefully, they can sort me out.

Had my cystoscopy on the due date and my bladder and urethra were ok, just some bleeding of my prostate. As a precaution, I am booked in for an ultrasound on my kidneys then having a trial without catheter (twoc) on 17th Feb, so hopefully, I will be back to normal.

Ultrasound on my kidneys was all OK, had my Trial Without Catheter today 11.02.20 managed to get an earlier date and after a couple of hours was released home without my catheter. Such a relief. Seeing my consultant on Thursday and have already been told that my p.s.a reading is still less than 0.01. So hopefully will go on to 12 months monitoring.

Too true, so uncomfortable. After the meeting with my consultant, my next appointment is in 6 month's time and it will be by telephone. Saves a few pounds on parking and driving to the hospital.

The diagnosis per se did not throw me, but the initial hormone treatment to inhibit the testosterone, made me irritable. The next step of radio-therapy went fine and I am now positively on the next step "Onward & Upward"

The diagnosis did throw me a bit, no family history and fairly young (48 yo). The worst thing is total loss of libido (due to prostate injections), yes you can take Viagra etc..but you still don't feel any urge. How many other guys feel this?

Well for me my prostate cancer and removal of the prostate earlier this year has not affected me mentally as far as I know. The only thing that upsets me is my incontinence at present and the pain I am getting from my bowels as I was told they had been scared by previous radiotherapy treatment and will take time to heal. On the 12th of August it will be 3 months since surgery and I hope I will driving again. I own a Classic Car and have yet to drive it after a 4yr restoration and meet up with all my other enthusiast's soon.
