Hello everyone,

How are you today? emoticon cute

Did you know that according to a number of doctors and researchers, stress and sleep problems can destabilise your diabetes?

Have you ever experienced this? What do you do when you are feeling stressed or have trouble sleeping?

@Courtney_J I don't know that I'd put the sleep together with the diabetes, but I do know that stress does do a number on my blood sugar. When I'm stressed I always want to snack and that's really not a good thing to do when you're diabetic, so I try to focus on other things like a book or listening to music to calm me down.

I wasn't aware of sleep issues either but like elizabethmary I think I'd sensed the stress's effects on my sugars. I wonder if it's a bit like blood pressure. When you're stressed your blood pressure can go up.

@madeleine09

neither was I. I never go to bed at the same hour, sometimes I sleep a lot and sometimes I feel that I havent slept enough. But I can't say I've noticed any changes in my blood sugar levels... or I never noticed the link. do you think it's really that important? I was wondering if I should really take good care of my sleeping schedule... They say it has an impact on the mood as well.

hi, didn't know that either, but I'm constantly feeling stressed out, because of everything - my job, my children, my husband, my disease, my husband's disease, my Mom, my relationship with my older sister... I need to calm down but I just don't know how!!
