Diet is an important (if not the most important) aspect of managing your diabetes.

Apart from what you eat, it is essential to take care of when you eat. It is known, that long periods without food are not recommended for diabetic patients, but having snacks all the time is not an ideal way out either.

How do you manage your everyday food intake? Do you follow a special routine with precise timings for breakfast, lunch and dinner? How often do you allow yourself to have a snack during the day? Do you eat just before going to bed?

At the moment I have my breakfast at 4.45am and then a small slice of whole meal toast about 10.0am lunch is a 13.00, usually a microwave meal of the diet variety. I then have a sandwich at 17. And that is it for the day.

i don't have time for breakfast in the morning i'm out of the door around 5.30am does anyone have any suggestions for breakfasts in the office, i do love fruit and tend to eat fruit, in the mornings and for snacking.

 

i'm also new to diabetes so any help advice tips of meals would be welcome

So right, progressively putting weight on and returned to high blood sugar levels requiring metformin yet again. So I just lost half a stone and seen blood sugar levels on a major downward trend. It does not take a lot but short sharp shock diets work very well at getting the sugar levels down and banning the meds!

Stay away from all fruit things and anything sweet. The cheaper the food is in general the less sugar it contains, as it is an expensive ingredient in food manufacturing.

My blood sugars can go from one extreme to another during the day if I don't watch what I eat .The most important in terms of my levels is breakfast, if I don't have something by 8 my levels can rocket by lunch time The next is have a little something before I go to bed or my sugar levels when I wake are low sometimes bordering on dangerously so .In contrast my husband who is also diabetic can eat whenever he likes as long as he has something even if only a slice of toast in the morning .
