Hi everyone π
When we think about sleep apnea symptoms, snoring, waking up during the night and feeling exhausted during the day often come to mind first.
But obstructive sleep apnea and high blood pressure can also be closely connected.
During an apnea episode, breathing repeatedly stops or becomes restricted while you sleep. This can lower oxygen levels and activate the body's stress response, causing temporary increases in heart rate and blood pressure.
When this happens repeatedly night after night, it may put extra strain on the cardiovascular system.
For someone already living with hypertension, this can raise an important question: could untreated sleep apnea be making blood pressure harder to control?
Treatment such as CPAP therapy can improve breathing during sleep, but experiences with blood pressure vary from person to person. Some people may notice changes after starting treatment, while others continue to need blood pressure medication and regular monitoring.
And sometimes the connection isn't discovered until much later.
Someone may spend years treating high blood pressure before eventually being diagnosed with sleep apnea.
π¬ We'd love to hear about your experience:

If you're living with both conditions, your experience could be particularly helpful to someone who has only recently discovered there may be a connection.
Did treating your sleep apnea change anything beyond your sleep?
With care,
Razar from the Carenity team π
