Hello everyone,

How are you today? emoticon cute

I thought I would open this discussion so that we can get to know one another better!

So, what is your ulcerative colitis story? When and how were you diagnosed? Did you receive your diagnosis relatively quickly, or did you have to see multiple doctors? What treatments have you tried for it? How are you doing today?

@Courtney_J I was diagnosed about 15 years ago. I was having frequent diarrhoea, blood in my stool, pain in my lower stomach and unexplained weight loss. I kept putting off going to the doctor because I've always disliked the doctors since I was a girl. When I finally did go, my GP just told me that I was just overworked and needed to eat more fibre and sleep more. A week or so later I started feeling feverish and ended up going to A&E where they did a scan and the doctor told me it was UC and it was very advanced. By that point I'd been running to the toilet at least 30 times a day. They put me on a biologic and it has helped tremendously. Lately, though I've been struggling with fatigue, if anyone has any advice I'm very interested!

I've had UC since I was born, or at least since I can remember. Even when I was very very small I remember having "toilet issues". I was bullied a bit at school for it, people laugh and say I wore nappies (they weren't far off I guess haha) and it was really hard for me for a good while. Fortunately I've come through all that and I think I'm stronger for it today. 💪

I had a  dreadful accident with  Salofalk Enema (Mesalazine) on my bedroom cream carpet and was ready to contact the carpet company to replace the whole carpet in my bedroom (which was the same carpet down the stairs and two other bedrooms).  I made it ten times worst  by trying to remove it by hand with soap and water and letting it dry.  Before I threw the carpet out I thought I would try Lidl's concentrated  washing liquid as the last result as it removes all the stains out of my underclothes with no trace left.  What had I to lose!.  The stain was a large deep purple  one and looked awful. I put the  Lidl's concentrated washing liquid  in my carpet vax machine. WELL MARVELLOUS  -  the stain came out and you would not have known that it had been there. Hope this helps someone else who has this problem.
