Steroids can be used to treat severe ulcerative colitis, but their effectiveness has a price: side effects.

Have you already been treated by steroids? What kind of steroids and what were the results?

I get prescribe steroids for both colitis and asthma flare ups and over the last 20 years they never work just make me more ill and if I'm on them for asthma or chest infection it sets off a flare for colitis. And in pain all over during the coursecand few weeks after.

I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis last 2015 that caused me to have an ileostony. I was about to have it reversed when my gastro found out that my colitis was still acute. He increased the dosage of my medicine instead of giving me steroids. He will check again after 2 months.
